Somogyi On The Numbers

Somogyi On The Numbers

BlueandGold.com // Freshman Numbers Assigned

Has the numbers of the Class of '09 and some of the greats that wore those numbers in the past.

Typical good stuff by Somogyi like only 17 ND numbers have not been worn by All-Americans.

Kicker20 was a poster here who alleged to be former Notre Dame kicker Kevin Kopka. Had lots of "insider" info. Took a lot of heat from a lot of posters here. Got run out of town on a rail.

Thought your number 20 comment may have been a crack at him. Oh well...

No, it was actually a jab at Terrail Lambert, who replaced Ambrose Wooden and Preston Jackson as the most burned corner in Irish history.

T lambert - for every 1 great play he made, he was burned for 3 plays. high profile plays too, i was never a lambert fan(he also sometimes took bad angles while attempting to run down RB/WR's)....ditto for Wooden

His one redeeming moment was the interception return for a touchdown against Michigan State.

Otherwise, his career was a complete and utter failure.

Thats a bit harsh. I think he had a blocked fg return for a TD against Air Force too.

I don't know about Lambert, but I feel bad when people still rip on Ambrose Wooden years after he played. He seems to be a genuinely good guy, who not only loves Notre Dame but loves it for the right reasons. He got a nice job with his Notre Dame education, and wants to give back to the school. Give the guy a break already and move on

I thought "Highway 15" had the lock on Toastiest CB in Irish History. Clifford Jefferson was the #1 CB if I recall correctly and like Ron Powlus and Jimmy Clausen fans expected superior performance from the moment he stepped on the field. Ron and Jimmy's (to date) college careers have done vastly more positive then memories of Jefferson's. He was vilified. Preston Jackson had the misfortune of wearing the same number. On one board, of note, there was even a call to have the number 15 sent on sabbatical to recuperate.
