Chris Martin texted a writer for rivals and told him he will be taking visits to other schools, but he says he's still solid with ND. I guess he said he'd be visiting UNC and LSU on his facebook according to other posters on the 4HL. Tifwiw

Hmmm, give a 17 or 18 year old the opportunity to go party with co-eds on someone else's dime? Hell yeah! Of course he's gonna take his officials. I would.

Also according to his facebook page, Louis Nix said he will be visiting ND on Sunday. Also info passed by other posters, because I don't have facebook.

oh no, here goes again. Maybe he's disappointed in the DL recruiting, I would be. Or maybe he heard about Omar Hunter's imminent transfer to ND.

Chris Martin To Open up Recruitment! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Chris Martin To Open up Recruitment! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

According to Scout and ISD (those guys are on top of everything!), Chris Martin has decided to re-open his recruitment. He's still committed to ND, but he wants to check out other schools. I'm FUCKING speechless!

No I'm not, this SUCKSSSSSSS! I'm absolutely in shock. I feel like I just got punched in the stomach! A week ago he was recruiting for us, and now he's not solid??? I want to throw up...

Edit: IrishLew also posted this same thing. I still want to throw up...

It's true bro. Everyone's on it now. Apparently some posters are saying that he's saying it's because of CW's job status. Who knows. I know that he loves CW. If we win this year, we'll pull in a great class. Bottom line. If we don't, holy shit, we're done. And now, I have to hear this crap for another 2 months until we finally play and start kicking arse like we all know we should (and will damn it!).

Hell, I'd rather be working then following this crap LOL...

My sources say that Trattou is unwelcome. Urban may be ND coach down the line. And Omar Hunter to ND is a DONE DEAL. I'm pretty sure I saw him at Rally's today. And by my sources, I mean my ass.

is it possible that Weis-hate is effecting recruits???? If I was a top recruit, and I saw/read about a coach who own alumni was hating on him, I would have questions too. You cant blame him(Martin), its the smart move.

"... its the smart move,"

Is it, exactly what has changed since 2/4/09 when Martin made his commitment?

Vocal alumni?

Weis has been on the hot seat for 2 years.

Was he out of the country for the entire '07 season?

Did he miss the 3 blown double digit leads snatching defeat from the jaw of victory?

Did the West Coast have rolling black outs when Syracuse stumbled into South Bend?

Does he not watch ESPN?

Does he not read ESPN?

Bashing coaches and bashing media were around before the bashing fans.

Smart move, checking out UNC? Carroll wore his knuckles out knocking on Martin's door. What does UNC have to offer over USC?

Really, I'm curious what has Weis done since 2/4/09 that would change his mind?

Where are you seeing the Weis-hate?? I have not seen any of this lately. I am not totally suprised by his looking. He needs to be prepared in case CW and crew fail this season. As I see it, we win 10-11 games and end up in a BCS. The recruits come calling.

I am numb. Maybe it's actually apathy when it comes to recruiting news, but I just don't get worked up over stuff like this anymore. Kids commitments come and go in this day and age and a "verbal" or "soft" commitment or whatever terminology they use doesn't mean shite to me until they sign on the dotted line. I just don't put the hope in to these commitments the way I used to, so when a kid opens his commitment or looks elsewhere (a'la Omar) it just doesn't get to me anymore. Plus, the Manti Teo situation keeps me believing that until that LOI is signed, anything can happen on the positive side of things too.

So, Chris, my hat is off to you. Bon voyage! Go hit some other campuses, go to a few parties, bang some random co-eds, and if you decide ND is not for you, I wish you all the best. No matter where you choose to go, study hard and play hard, but you will NEVER, I repeat NEVER, find a place as special as ND. Unfortunately, from your perspective right now, you might not be able to see how special this place really is. Good luck to you, but I still hope you sign on ND's line come next February.

I love reading peoples' thoughts on ND Football. Its kinda annoying to hit last post on the Chris Martin link and all I see are posts about Omar Hunter.

If we lose Martin our 2010 class will suck and we will not get any big names. From reading stories in the SB Tribune Martin was excided to come to ND. Unfortunately I don't see us getting any recruits until later this year based off how the team does.

Im calling it, martin is staying at ND, jones is staying at Stanford. Just because they visit schools doesnt mean they are decommiting. No big deal, unless he states "yea im a soft verbal" then no biggy IMO.

It sucks right now, true, but we're still in great shape with a couple recruits. We need to win, and all will be well, but to say no one will commit until we win is premature. A lot of recruits will wait, but not all. Hendrix is going to pop very soon. Wood will announce this Friday night, and by most accounts he's Irish. Lueders has us in the lead as well, and he'll commit somewhere before the summer is over, perhaps very soon. And we have 5-6 guys coming this weekend, starting w/ tomorrow, Chris Martin's very good friend, LB Moore from North Carolina.

Speaking of Moore, his top 3 is ND, LSU, and UNC. Coincidentally, Chris Martin's 3 planned OVs will be to ND, LSU, and UNC. Hmmmmmm. It's obvious something's going on here, perhaps even a package deal. Martin says he's praying on his decision, and Moore is staying at ND for 2 nights/3 days. We're still good here IMO, but damn, this was a shocker. Thus the perhaps overreaction by ND Nation (including myself)...

Ok Sampson talked to Martins dad who said that Chris wanted to attend the Rising Stars Camp at USC because it gives him chance to compete against the best talent and improve his game. He was not allowed to because he was commited to ND and the Trojans didnt want him recruiting for the Irish at their camp. Martin is opening his commitment to 1) ensure that he really made the right choice 2) so that he can continue to hit the camps and improve his game. I hope this is the reason. He is still commited and has yet to take another visit. Everyone just calm down.
