ND defense has been getting bashed for so long that the perception of a soft defense will remain until ND changes it. I expected this.
Agreed. We really have nothing to argue with here, except MAYBE secondary like ND23 said. However, it has to be proven, and until we prove it, I have no qualms with any of this, even the DB's. McCarthy has to prove he can cover, not just tackle. Hayseed has to prove he can play safety, not just a hybrid LB spot. Walls has to prove he's all the way back. Blanton has to prove he belongs on the field every play. Sergio Brown has to prove that we really can't see him (LOL). And McNeil and Gray have to prove they can either beat out the 2 starting corners, or make it REALLY tough for the coaches to decide.
The good thing is, we have the talent and we all know this secondary can and should be a top 5 unit by the end of the season...
