Measurables are not very special. I know that's not everything.

im 5'10 220 and have a 27 inch vertical haha

As a 6ft white boy, I had a 30+ inch vert back in the day (when I weighed around 190). And ran a 4.7, and I was not even close to in top shape. Now it's probably more like a 8 inch vertical and a 6 sec 40yd, but still..... I guess it's hard to tell with HS numbers, but for someone small, you still hope to see better numbers.....

Before this weekend, he had Michigan as #1. Said he was blown away by his visit with Mich. But after his weekend at ND, he said ND has caught Michigan and they are tied for the lead. ND made a big impact on all 3 FL studs that came to visit. (Thank God the weather was nice!!!!)...

put the pads on, then speed is really measured. there are alot of guys that run 4.4s without pads that are caught by guys who run 4.7s, because running with extra weight is much different. really glad to see this kid liked his visit so much. we always have a shot when we can get them on campus.

More often than not, the guy who can run a 4.4 is going to accelerate better than the guy who ran a 4.5 whether the pads are on or off.

The question isn't whether the 40 time is useful or not (more information is always better than less). I think the real question, though, is figuring out to what degree a .1 difference in 40 time relates to production on the field.

All prognosticators put weight on the below:

Productivity (stats)
Measurables (height/weight/40 time/bench reps/vertical/shuffle etc)
Film (football instincts, game speed, etc)

The measurables (as unpopular as they are with players, and even fans), they do offer important information about a player's raw athleticism.

I think the inclusion of Stanford was a data entry screwup by someone at ESPN. I believe it should read GT and not SU.

The ESPN writeup lists the four you have above but then in the next sentence they list offers from other schools and start off with SU so SU appears twice and while GT was omitted.

In his blog on ISD, Wiltfong notes, "... if it's not the Irish, Michigan would be the next guess, ..." Then he notes the family likes GT and Ole Miss.

Wiltfong also points out in the blog that while his article reads a June verbal he think in will be in the next few weeks, before the end of this month.

He's set to make his announcement on June 26th. Most reports have it between us and Bitchagain (Mich). He will be an early enrollee. Could this be number 6?

Yes, it could. I would be very surprised if we don't have 2 commits at the end of the month with all the visitors. My gut sayz Wood is Irish, why would anyone go to Michigan.

If he commits, he will be commitment #6 because WR Bennett Jackson committed to the Irish today.

Oooooppps. Yeah, I knew that (although Jackson committed yesterday, not today); We were waiting so damn long for some commits that I forgot the #. Yes, the question should read, will he be #6?

Thanks GITT...

6/16 Apopka's Lo Wood will choose between Notre Dame, Michigan and Georgia Tech on June 26
Chris Hays Orlando Sentinel Staff Writer

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...lo-woods-final-three-06122009,0,5396978.story

Apopka cornerback Lo Wood's father -- Lo Wood Sr. -- told the Sentinel on Tuesday night (June 16) that his son will make his college football commitment on June 26, and he won't know who it will be until his son tells him the night before.

At that time, Lo Jr. and Lo Sr. fly to the city of the school of the younger Woods' choice, and they make the announcement on campus.

The Apopka cornerback, rated No. 32 in the nation at his position by Rivals.com, is spending the summer with his mother in New Orleans. When he returns home June 25, that's when he will spring the news to his father.

"I'm fine with whatever school he chooses. They are all great schools. It makes no difference. He'll come back and let me know and that's when we'll book a flight and head out."

I didn't think a recruit could announce on a college's campus. I thought I had read that Clausen wanted to announce at the Blue and Gold Game inside the Stadium. But the NCAA does not allow that so Clausen had to find someplace off ND's campus to announce which brought him to the College Hall of Fame.

That is correct, but maybe he wants to be on campus to tell the head coach.

Had not though of that. Thank you.

A tad expensive in this age of cells, emails, and tweets but it's more impressive than a Thank You note. I expect someone who went to that effort would honor their commitment and such action would simultaneously send a message to other coaches, "This is my final answer".

Anybody think it is entirely possible that he said his plans to come to ND changed because he didn't want to give his choice away before he announced it? If he still had plans to come to ND the 26th then it would be obvious it was the irish to everybody weeks ahead of when he wanted to announce it.

IHMM, from all the ND insiders I read, I'd be completely shocked if he gave any other answer than ND. Michigan definitely has a chance here, but ND has a GREAT shot. I'm not very confident about many recruits because I am a pessimist by nature (makes it that more exciting when the positive stuff happens LOL), but I feel really good about getting commits very soon from Wood, Hendrix, and soon after that Lueders, who is coming with his pops this week. With those recruits in town, plus LB Kendall Moore and all the campers, these next 2 weeks are HUGE for ND recruiting.

EDIT: Kendall Moore, not Boone, as I originally (and idiotically) wrote...

I am not arguing that he won't choose ND. I think he will in the end. What I am saying is that he probably planned the trip to South Bend for that day, then told a recruiting server that he was going to announce on that day. That gives it to the irish right there. There would be surprise for his decision. Therefore, he probably said he couldn't make the trip to ND for that day so when he shows up and announces his intentions, it is more of a surprise. Most recruits don't like to give it away on where they are going, then like to make people wait.

Yeah it is, Hendrix, Lueders on the 23rd and then Amerson, Moore, Shembo, and Priester on the 26th. Hopefully by the end of the week we will all be drinking merrily!
