Well, another day, another top football player arrested. But instead of a U of Florida player getting arrested, it was an Ohio St. Buckeye recruit, Jamaal Berry, that was arrested. Of course, he was from the state of Florida, but I digress. He's a stud, a player that was expected to contribute right away. Dude was popped with 20 grams of pot. Damn. That sounds like a lot, but I honestly have no clue! NDOM, where you at? lol. It is a felony though, so dude is in some serious trouble.

While I don't wish another human being any ill will, I can't help but smile at the timing of it, considering Hendrix is but weeks away from announcing...

20 grams isn't that much, but if each gram is in a different baggie than it can be found as "intent to sell", which is not good at all for that young man.

Strange. Jamaal Berry is EXACTLY who I thought of when I read the title of this thread.

Who cares? let me know when this stuff affects the Irish

If one of our rival teams for a player gets in trouble it affects the Irish! I love it because I live in Ohio and for a day I get to ask every OSU fan in my office about their stud recruit. :pbanana::bbanana::pbanana:

It absolutely affects the Irish. Like Jeremy said, it's one of our rivals. At the end of this month, a stud QB recruit who has a great head on his shoulders is going to choose between OSU and ND. While this may not help ND, it sure as hell won't help OSU chances. Also, we want ND in a BCS game right? OSU has been a fixture there lately. In fact we just played them a bowl game a few years ago. Let's say this guy gets kicked out of school (highly unlikely knowing how they do things over there), instead of facing a potential Beanie Wells stud, we might be facing what would have been his backup. It all matters to me.

Anyways Jamaal Berry, shame on you, and as punishment, you will now be forced to sit out the first series of the first game vs. Charleston Southern Baptist University, or whatever weak-ass school OSU scheduled...

I don't think that's a fair assessment at all. Tressel took a star (Maurice Clarett) and handled him pretty fairly without just slapping him on the wrist. I think we sometimes get jaded, and think that anyone who doesn't toss a kid from the team is being soft. I'll wait to hear the facts of the case (the ones that the media bothers to report, that is) before passing any judgment.

What the hell was Tressel doing with "handling" the situation to start with?

It's a student issue not a coach issue.

Going back to LA's comment:

Did I miss him skewering Tressel or did you just assume LA's "they" meant Tressel?

What is tOSU's policy on Drug Possession or Intent to Distribute regarding students?

Do you get suspended or expelled if run the 40 over 8 flat?

I'd like for all of ND's opponents to go 11-1 with their only blemish from a perfect season, a loss to ND.

In Michigan's case I can make an exception.

Thug Life.

Now, now.

He may just be an aspiring entrepreneur (Risky Business?) doing some market research.

Perhaps an aspiring drama major doing some role research.

A good samartian collecting cannabis for the medicinally challenged.

Or maybe that NCAA textbook crackdown is having an effect ...

MARIJUANA? MARIJUANA? Marijuana aint a drug....(bob sagat stands up) "yeah thats right, I used to suck dick for coke!" "You ever suck dick for POT?" LOL LOL LOL LOL!

Shit 20 grams? That aint shit, I carry that on me all the time. Thats a joint worth for me. There's approximately 455 grams to equal 1 pound from what I remember (Warning...Smoking pot causes memory loss) Sooooooooo I believe if my math is at least close 20 grams would be approximatly 3/4 of an oz. And theres 16??? oz in a pound. Does that help? Obviously you can tell I'm high as a kite right now.

In CA, 20 grams is still just a citation(as long as it isnt individually packaged therefore its distribution). Anything under an ounce (28 grams) amounts to a parking ticket(unless your a dick to the cop). It looks bad for OSU for sure, and can be easily ridiculed but I dont see it as big deal; unless all you hear about now is a bunch OSU players getting busted for smoking out. truth of the matter, 1000's of athletes, and millions of responsible ppl smoke out everyday....and that includes a small percentage of players on this ND team(all ncaa teams). they may not use during the season, but come off season....

Now if this story was about anything other than marijuana(vicodin, pain killers, meth, cocaine, opiates, etc, etc) or that he had 10lbs of pot, then I would see it as a big deal.

This story got very little attention. The Rivals.com boards, where these kinds of stories get posted as soon as they're reported, started a thread on this and it quickly died.

Everybody's too focused on USC's allegations. Nobody cares about anything else.

No it's not.

Also please remember, that he signed his LOI this February. He isn't even on campus yet.

Which should mean it's up to OSU's Admissions Department as to whether they let him enroll.

Does OSU the school, not the team, have a policy regarding pre-enrollment arrests/incidents?

Is your SAT over 6? Can you catch a football? Okay... affirmative action allows us to create a diverse environment. Seeing as you are experenced with varous drugs, OSU has decided to pre-enroll you in the pharmocology department. Also... skeet, seekt mother fucker. Welcome to OSU. Go Fuckeyes!

WOW I was being facetious with "a good samaritan collecting cannabis for the medically challenged" and here he's a pharmacology major. My apologies to the young man. 20 years from now he might be the CEO of Merck, if we still have pharmaceutical companies in 20 years.
