I know the game is currently tied at the half, but I just want to go on record saying that this could be the most talented, yet undeserving team EVER to win an NBA championship if they manage to beat Denver (which I am unsure that they will). The lack of hustle towards loose balls for an entire series is just disgusting. They just ooze entitlement.

That said...GO LAKERS!!!

Feeling you. Down by 7, I just put it on pause because I'm getting too worked up and I need a respite, so I came to follow my other underachieving team LOL. C'mon Lakers!!!

You read that wrong. The Bulls won AND they deserved it. He's talking about talented and UNDERSERVING teams that win.

The Lakers are talented, yes, but really, are they really that great? They are too soft. Their toughest player is Kobe Bryant, and, well, Kobe Bryant. That's not a recipe for postseason success. I will say this, if they do win the title, I don't give a shit whether they deserve it or not, just get us (and Kobe) that damned 4th ring!

Unfortunately, I am working Friday and Sunday. Let's just see Kobe have an 'MJ-moment' and stun 'em in Denver.

I would also like to note that the Lakers are selectively soft. There are times that Pau and Lamar play pretty physical (i.e.-4th quarter tonight).

It's just amazing to see how they turn it off and on so frequently.

NDinLA, you are correct. I did not mean that as the Lakers being the most talented team of all time. I would agree that any championship team since 1981 would wipe the floor with these Lakers. What I was getting at is that in this season's NBA, this is a team that has no rival when they are playing at their best. If they played every game with the heart and emotion that Houston or Denver has so far in these playoffs, they would be gearing up for the Finals tonight. They should not have lost a game in LA to this point. No fault but their own. Poor execution, and no hustle.

Wait, they won tonight! Go Lakers!!!

I stand corrected. Lakers win NBA title in 5. No difference who they play.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

I prefer to stay negative. I said they'd lose game 6, and they played the game of they year. Kobe was absolutely brilliant. Aside from the rebounds, his performance was even better than LeBron's last game, the triple-double. He had the ball in his hands far less, took less shots, involved his teammates more, and when his team needed separation, he went for the throat. What a performance. And his teammates all stepped up.

Now, if we could somehow get Derek Fisher to come down with the flu, we might just take it in 5. Otherwise, buckle up, the Lakers do this all the time...

Cavs don't match up well with L.A. Pau, Odom and Bynum will dominate Big Z and Varejao. I think Orlando is the better matchup talent wise, but I am sure the NBA is pulling for Cavs-Lakers.

Haha...There goes the ratings...This really should be a great series...The Magic can definetly hit 3's...The Lakers need to play perimiter defense and find somebody to keep Howard in check...Can anybody on the Magic guard Kobe? Gasol needs to be aggressive that is key. Lakers in 6.

Yea BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYY!!!!!! Lakers by 25!!!

That said, Orlando missed LOTS of great looks, and all the credit ESPN was giving Gasol and Bynum for their defense on Howard was a bit much. They went away from him as soon as he picked up his 2nd foul.

Stan Van Gundy is not a big time coach.

Yup, Howard can get any shot he wants on us. Damn he's a beast. Every time he touches the ball he should be getting a good look or getting fouled. He should have gotten the ball so much more. You will definitely see Mbenga in this series.

However, the open looks they were getting were for guys that I don't mind shooting, esp Rafer Alston and Jameer Nelson. Lewis and Turkolu (sp) had contested looks, and Pietrus was taken away from his comfort zone, the corner.

The best thing the Lakers did was keep Dwight off the offensive glass. They muscled up on him, and Fisher (who is beyond washed up) did a helluva job battling down low. We need that same effort to pull off a squeaker on Sunday.

And as for Kobe, damn what an effort. Sorry LeBron fans, Kobe's still the best player in the game IMO (although it won't last much longer w/ the way Lebron is rising)...

I know Superman can play, but in the bigget game of his career up till now, dude only put 6 shots for the entire game, and only made one. Dwight is long, and beats you with his athleticism. He is a decent offensive player, but he still needs to develop his offensive game. He looked overwhelmed last night, Pau Gasol D'd him up pretty well, and got in his head too..

Kobe wont let this team lose...

30-something percent shooting from the floor helps a lot too. Dwight may be Superman, but 1-on-4 offensive rebounds are far and few between. L.A. owned the paint because Orlando let them by missing perimeter jumpers ALL GAME LONG.

I think game 2 is a different story, but L.A. wins. This team may finally have their heads screwed on straight. I stand by my original prediction, Lakers in 5.

I'm Nostra-freakin-domus. Knew game 2 would be tough. If L.A. wins game 3, however, I change my prediction to sweep. I'm crafty like that.

"Kobe, what were you thinking when the ball was in the air?"

"Shit."

Priceless.

The Lakers do blow...their championship horn!!!! Not quite the wild prediction to say Lakers in 5, but I did say Lakers in 5. Thought they would win game 3 and lose game 4, but close enough. Interesting to hear the talk already lean towards next year. I think if they can keep the team intact, this team can get back to the Finals. Not sure if a healthy Bynum would make the difference if there was a rematch with Boston, but that's my early, early prediction. Boston vs. L.A. the rematch. Lakers in 7.

Congrats Lakers!

Say what you want about his personality, about his awkwardness towards other people, etc. But his cockiness? No problem w/ that. Why? Because how much different is it from MJ's??? The ONLY difference is that MJ got to play in the non-paparazzi, non-Internet era. MJ was a diabolical, asshole-teammate, hyper-competitive, cheating-on-his-wife-BIGTIME, addicted-to-gambling, SOB. Remember, MJ was the first person to say 'my supporting cast'. Is that not a cocky SOB or what?

But you know what? He was a winner. Best player of all-time. Cut-throat, hardest worker in the NBA. And Kobe is the exact same way in that sense. NOt only is he the most skilled NBA player, he's the hardest worker by far. His teammates on the Olympic team, the best players in the world, couldn't believe how hard he worked, and they knew they had to emulate it if they wanted to get to his level.

And that's what I want from all my athletes. Guys that don't sit on their fat-ass wallets once they get to the big time. Guys that just get after it, day after day, to be the best they can possibly be. Competitors. Wouldn't surprise me AT ALL is he were in the gym right now. Say what you want about Kobe, because Lord knows he did a lot of it to himself, but I respect the hell out of that dude because of his dedication to achieve. (And he became a much better teammate as he got older.) And if Kamara had half of Kobe's work ethic, we might not be talking about Floyd so much this year would we?

As a HUUUGE Laker fan, las night was sooooo friggin' sweet. Very happy for Kobe, who deserved this, for Phil, the greatest coach in NBA history, for Gasol, who was NAILS all year, for Kupchak, who raped the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies in his thefts of Ariza and Gasol, and for the rest of the guys. Fantastic series. Very satisfying, the way this group of seemingly non-competitors started to compete on the defensive end on their way to the rings. Well done fellas, thanks.

If ND can do as well, I will have died and gone to heaven...
