What would you like to see improved upon by specific players?

Clausen: Clausen needs to stay calm in the pocket. He needs to stay confident in himself and be composed, not pout and be scared to throw the football after an interception. I'd also like to see him look off his first option and throw it to the open receiver.

Armando Allen: AA needs to keep on pushing, not go down after the first hit like he always does. If he could stay on his feet, he'd be the boss. I'd also like to see him stop the trips/stumbles/slips he ALWAYS does when he makes a cut or a juke (ie: Hawaii Bowl, he nearly fell on his KO return TD)

Robert Hughes: Hughes is a power back. I want to see him run people over, not fail at juking them out.

Duval Kamara: The man has hands of stone. As long as he gets some hands, he could be a NIGHTMARE in the red zone.

Offensive Line: Everything.

Defensive Line: Everything.

Raeshon McNeil: I want him to play more like he did in the first half of the season...AND STOP GIVING THE OTHER TEAM 15 YARD CUSHIONS!

Clausen: Throw the freaking ball away if you have nothing and stop eyeballing the receiver. Other than that... Go get 'em
Armando Allen: Make up your mind where you want to go and get through the hole!!! Stop playing around in the backfield so much. See hole, fly thru hole get to the secondary and then dance like nobody's watching you. But until then purpose your runs objectively.

Robert Hughes: Run over people sir. Your a tank. Tanks smash things. You smash people.

Duval Kamara: Keep your head in the game. Play "Swagga like us" before each game like 30 times.

Offensive Line: Block.

Defensive Line: Push and tackle.

Walker: Build off of the end of last year. Lets see some touchbacks.

Cuts blocks are not pussy blocks. Cut blocks force a defender's hands down. Additionally, cut blocks allow big boys to make blocks in space vs. shifty, quick defenders. Hell, I knew as soon as I was downfield that I would be going for the knees of an OLB, FS, SS, or CB. Cuts blocks also deal damage and get inside the heads of defenders. You sir, Junkhead, were not a lineman.

Cut blocks require athleticism. Too many times last two seasons I noticed ND linemen miss cutblocks and suck grass while D passed by and crushed O.

Wabash, was it scheme, youth, lack of footwork, overweight? ...

All of the above may contribute but it was generally poor execution.

And it wasn't just linemen. I recall TBs, FBs, TEs, and WRs that threw (attempted to throw) cutblocks and didn't even draw shoe polish. It was like they thought the defender was wearing a red "no contact" practice jersey.

Bambi,

We were taught to go for knees downfield. Screens, long runs, picking up a block after a pass, etc. The simple fact is that if you pust a 280lb guard into a box with a 195lb safety, the safety is going to juke the lineman out of his jock. Thus, we were told to cut downfield. The great of a fat guy rolling up onto someone's knees is enough for a DB to stop, adjust his pursuit path, and give the RB, WR, TE, etc. that extra second to bust up a seam.

See, cut blocks are taught for a via a single technique. Got to the thighs, and then throw your shoulder through the opposite hip... then alligator roll into the knees. That would stop even Ray Lewis.

Perhaps ND needs to supply it's "blockers" with an anatomy class to identify where the "knees" are located. Many of them seemed fixated on a point on the ground 6-12 inches in front of the defenders feet.
