id say if a qb wanted to go to nd it would be the class of '11 because u would think jimmy would stay all 4, then crist, then the young gun would come in. this is all just an assumption. not sayin jake heap couldnt possibly sign and come in and start over crist

Teams that consistently put guys in the pros will consistently get players. Look at USC QB's. They get 5 stars coming in year after year, and they redshirt and sit a couple of years (meaning 3 years!!!) until they play, and recruits still keep going there. Why? Palmer, Leinart, even Booty and Cassell (late round picks), and now Sanchez. Mustain transferred in knowing that Sanchez was their preferred starter.

When CW came in and completely changed Brady Quinn from a potential pro to a first-rounder, the top QB recruit in the nation (Jimmy) came. And believe it or not, the very next year, 5 star Crist came, knowing he'd have to beat out JC to play early. Didn't matter, because he believed that CW trains pro QB's. When JC has a great year this year (and with his cannon plus his WR's, chances are in our favor that he will be great), those QB recruits will notice, and they'll come. Guys like Heaps, who will verbal early, won't get to see it before he verbals, but others will. We'll get our QB in 2010, I have no doubt about that...

You have to read my post again. I'm ONLY talking about the QB position. QB's saw what happened to Brady, and next year they'll see what's happening to JC. If the QB recruits don't commit early, they'll see that ND is a place where QB's improve and get noticed by pro scouts, and they'll see that ND is a great place to sign in 2010.

In no way am I comparing ND to USC. They are the gold standard unfortunately right now when it comes to both recruiting and getting guys into the pros...

Wow thats great. CW has finally got his guys in...Made BQ, Stovall, and JS into potential early round picks....The classes he recruited the last 3 years will be high draft picks barring injury...We will give SC a run for their money this year thanks to CW's committment to recruiting the elite players...I wish more people would be more appreciative...guess they're waiting for the results of next season..

31-18 usc is my count, but i consider that the shark would have been taken in the 1st round, that makes 19....hmmmmm 19 guys in 05, 06, 07, 08......not bad in my book.

Also, I was looking at that list of piece of shit usc scrubs, thinking, Justin Tuck made an impact in a Super Bowl 2008.....USC can't say that. Look at USC list, if I were in the NFL I would only want Reggie, Casel, Tatupu, We have made better Pro's for sure.

I didn't do this, and I'm not sure, but I think you could match up their best pro at each position and we would beat them hands down. I started to think maybe ReggieorLendale, but we have Ryan Grant who has been pretty good......Their receivers have been garbage. QB I guess Cassel, but now he's going to ride the pine, and I think I would rather have Brady. Just a thought.

idk man. its a matter of opionion on signing this year if ur a qb. because in a way we have "depth" at qb from the stand point of the outside looking in. if i were heaps id look elsewhere where a qb whos a jr or sr who would be possibly leaving this comin up year, such as oklahoma, where his pocket passin would fit the scheme. and hed have a great team to surround him with one of the top 5 coaches in college football today and a team thats at least a top 10 program year in year out

I would say we have a better shot at Montana and Heaps than my boy LMI seems to think... I say we get one of the two

Well, Montana has told the coaching staff he won't come to ND...not sure why he'd change his mind.

Heaps...well, the coaching staff assumes he's not, so I won't bet against them.

i mean bc i know football. u tryin to tell me that every team in california is a top notch team? no. alright then. not every team in a conference or division will be a great program. it just doesnt happen that way. plus when u look at a team goin 42-0 in 4 years. id say theres some obvious mismatches there. with jimmy puttin up his numbers in hs ball and marc tyler puttin up the numbers he did?

when i think lately, i think previous 3-5 years. thats lately. if i wanted almost 10 yrs back ill drop decade.

Of course we don't know what is going through his head either. Has he discussed publicly where he wants to go? I want my son to go to ND and play Offensive Tackle he has the size and talent. Currently he is a sophomore 6-2 300lbs. and still growing. But I realize that I will be proud where ever he decides to go. I told him forget about all the ND stuff he has grown up wearing. I want him to go where he will be happy and get a good education.
True, I believe he would get that at ND, but it is his decision. I hope he does go there but he has to go there because he wants to go there. I do not want him to go there for me.
I think Archie Manning took the same approach with his sons.

As a side note I believe his Junior year, Joe started #3 on the depth chart. Dan Devine must have at least at one time thought he had two quarterbacks that were better. Maybe talent wise they were, Dan knew more about football than I do. But playing quarterback is more than just being able to make the throws it is having grit and saavy on the field that makes you a winner. Granted that is not something you can see or measure but is might be more important than arm strentgh or accuracy. Is Nick this way? I don't have a clue. I just want ND to get the best quarterback they can, and the best RB and best DE and best MLB. etc. etc.
