But you woke up today. And today is another chance to win. You guys are winners. Make it happen again. I, as a random 1/4billion fan will shake down the thunder when you guys go marching onward to victory.

Yes, you lost to a pathetic team. You lost to a team playing for nothing but pride and playing with nothing to lose. They won. And you know what? There is the distinct possibility the same thing can happen next Saturday in LA. A team going in to a hostile environment when NO ONE gives them the slightest chance of winning. They play their guts out and come away with a win. It just happened. Why can't it happen again.

That's right. I am calling my shot. I am going to open myself up for unabashed ridicule by many, many posters on here, but I am saying we rise out of the ashes and we channel all the anger and bile that we have endured for last season and part of this season and we put an epic beatdown on the Trojans. It could happen. There is still magic out there.

I am prepared for getting ripped on, but I pray you can come up with something original and not play the tired, hackneyed Kool-Aid reference. It's been done. Get something new and fresh please.

they've been competitive against most of the teams on one of the worst schedules in notre dame history. they don't "have a chance to win" against USC b/c they do not possess the necessary tools to win on saturdays. they have superior talent to everyone on the schedule except USC, but they are not a better team than half of the teams on their schedule. the team has actually regressed during the year. they are not winners b/c they have not been taught the proper way to win and the proper way to play 60 full minutes of college football. They lost to an awful football team that wanted to win a football game. That is all. Syracuse didn't do anything special. They played hard for 60 minutes and wanted to win more than the other team. Attitude reflects leadership. And Notre Dame's coaching/leadership is the at worst state it has been in a long time.

Ok. Does that mean that we are just supposed to accept inferior showings because the other team is fired up to play ND? Teams have been giving ND their best shot since Knute Rockne was the coach. ND has had the ability to beat a lot of teams knowing that they were going to get their best shot. Now: a loss to Navy, six straight to BC, a loss to an 8-loss team (soon to be 9-loss). Its ridiculous to use that as an excuse.

What does this mean? Notre Dame has never given up more than 59 points in a football game before. Its in jeopardy on Saturday. This team has showed no emotion for two years. Do you think telling them that they have no chance to win is going to do anything to their psyche? They don't possess the leadership or coaching to turn that kind of doubt into motivation to win.

They have better raw physical talent than 11 of the 12 teams on the schedule. They don't have the tools to win the game. The team does not have good fundamentals, is not properly "fired up" or motivated, is not sound mentally, and cannot rise to any occasion.

What? Did they win in high school? They aren't winners in college because they have not been taught to be winners. They don't play like winners. Winners fucking bury a team like Syracuse into the ground.

You misunderstood (as you apparently misunderstood most of my self explanatory post). Find one person here who will agree with you that Syracuse is not a bad football team.

I didn't say any other team sucks (although San Diego St. certainly does). I only referenced Syracuse. And yes, they are awful. A win against Notre Dame doesn't change that.

as much as i'd love to see the irish win, i just don't think that this coaching staff will have the boys prepared enough to deal with USC's vaunted offense.

call me pessimistic, but the last few games have given me plenty of reasons to be such a downer.

I am so not talking shit at all until I see VAST improvement in every position both on offense and defense. I especially aint talking shit to a team that very well could have beat us fairly easily in Nevada. They are NOT going to be a pushover. I think this team will show how good they really are against Nevada. We will just wait and see who we end up playing that day A) The "puppies" or B) Wolf Pack. Becuse its gonna be either of the two, I can promise you that, I'm leaning on more towards the Wolf Pack though. Just a hunch.

The person that wins in these threads is usually the one with the stamina to post enough and be the last one standing in the end.

I will make my prediction on the season after the spring game. Right now I am predicting 10 wins, and a bowl win. It could be much more though after the spring game, but it could be much less. I really feel Verducci is going to get the offensive line running as one.

but either way, Nevada is going to be a very very very similar team to Hawaii, a decent offense that looks good against shit competition, and no athletes on defense.

My prediction right now for Nevada is 42-13, including a punt return for a touchdown by yours truely, Cierre Wood.

I simply stated that we aren't going to be playing a soft Nevada team this year, all that simply meant was that we are going to struggle against these guys for our first game (See San Diego State last year) I didn't say we were going to lose.
