That QB thread got me thinking...Who is your fav RB of all time? I will always remember Ricky "Running" Watters growing up. The kid was cocky but he could play. I always loved Reggie Brooks and Allen Pinkett too. My all time favorite has to be Jerome Bettis. He was a bus or truck or train however you want to put it. The kid loved contact and we loved him. Even a great guy to boot. Gotta mention Marc Edwards too, he was all heart and represented this university with absolute class like the aformentioned.

I wouldn't even try to rete "greatest RB of all time". That pool us much deeper than the QB one is.

Just from a "my favorite to watch" list - Autry Denson and Lee Becton. Man I loved Becton, he could plow guys over on one run, and turn around and sprint and spin past DBs the next play.

Have to agree on Becton. He wasn't that fast, but he'd juke the crap out of most any DB or LB.

Tons of choices, and lots of good calls here with Becton, Bettis, Denson, etc.

But for me, the top RB that I've had the pleasure to watch, the guy who combined amazing speed, jukes, power, everything, was Reggie Brooks. My Lord what a stud. Check out this video if you have 3 spare minutes:

I gotta go with the Bus... I loved watching a fellow fat man run... especially with the rock.

NDinLA, unbelievable that you would post that, and you just solved a personal mystery.

I always thought Tony Brooks was a better athlete than his younger brother Reggie, but my job at the time dictated that I missed most ND games that year, so I really can't compare.

Penick, Furguson, Bell, Pinkett... all greats. I vote Reggie Brooks.

Summabeetch Reggie was one fast and quick mofo. geez Lightening. Too bad for me that I missed that entire season of football. Goddammit.

Anyone notice that he doesn't showboat after he scores? Stud.

Was Reggie a Heisman candidate? Geez. Friggen lightening.

My top three:

1. Reggie Brooks
2. Jerome Bettis
3. Marc Edwards

But you could substitute about a half dozen other guys in any of those spots.

Autrey Densen was my fav. but ol' Reggie Brooks was unbelievable. Till I watched NDinLA's video I forgot how dominate he was. He is probably the all time best.

Strong case could be made for Julius Jones if you count the Special teams in the argument.

My favorite was Erik Pennick and Al Hunter. I also liked Alan Pinkett and Reggie Brooks and the Bus and most of the others.

Now we are talking my fun, the ground game. I have to go with the big fellas; Bettis and Edwards. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing one of our backs hit the open field and run like there is no tomorrow but, give me a back that tucks their helmet and gets 3 or 4 yards after being hit 9 or 10 times in the trench, wearing that beautiful golden dome and knocking the total shit out of someone getting a first down. Damn, want to make me go knock the hell out of my next door neighbor......

Bettis and Edwards, take your pick for number 1 in my book.

My list:

1. Jerome Bettis - he made me jump out of seat/chair/couch and jump up and down till I was out of breath

2. Reggie Brooks - Another exhilrating RB, I think his senior year he avg 8.1 yds/carry. amazing. I think he finished 4th in Heisman ballot. It was a sad day when he left ND.

3. Ricky Watters - ultra prepared, always in tip-top shape, gave his all on every down

Back to NDinLA's video...

I noticed that all linemen had a hat on someone on every play. I have not noticed that since Holtz left. Reggie was amazing. Straight forward. Shortest distance betwixt two points. He got there quickly.

I missed the entire season. I think that's when my Cracker Jacks (gift inside) habit started.
