I usually don't post things like this, but I think Brey might need to go. I really wanted him to succeed and thought it was a good hire, but we tanked this year. I think we play way to soft, WVU out rebounded us 13 - 2 in the first half. As Bilas said at one point we did not put a finger on a rebound. It has been like that not only this year, but in big games last year a previous years. We are never in position for a rebound. The Ross twins got rebounds. Plus the lack of bench hurts us. During Dec. and Jan he should have been playing Nash and some others more often. Once Hilesbrand and Zellers tanked he could have had options. Very disappointed in this team.

He's been the Big East Coach of the Year the two past seasons. I think he has a little breathing room...

i'd like to compete on a high level every year but we're just not competitive enough in BE recruiting. i've been able to handle our ups and downs over the last 10 years.

i suggestion is to keep him around until a "cant miss" coach becomes available to hire. no need to dump him if we have no contingency plan.

If it is recruiting, then will the upgrades to the JACC help? If not what will. Does Brey need a heavy hitter on his staff to get the kids in? I think Dantley is an Asst with Denver, would be nice to have him assoc. with the program again. I know no one goes from NBA asst ot College asst, but it is just a nice thought.

I dont know about this one man. I'm not ready to run Brey outta the Bend just yet. He said 9-9 this year in the Big East and he was almost right. He knew something we didnt. He definately needs to make those guys tougher defensively but lets just not fire the guy yet. I like Brey alot.

I like Notre Dame basketball and probably always will; but the thing that showed up this year to me was that Mike Brey doesn't game coach to much. He doesn't adjust personnel with other teams personnel and obviously for the most part of the year he was overly loyal to his top 6 players not always his best players. I think the amount of minutes that the starters played in the 1st half of Big East play wore them out.

I am torn on this issue. I love ND hoops. I follow them with just as much passion as I do the football team. And I like Brey. But I was thinking today, 1 sweet 16 appearance in 9 years? Is that good enough? It shouldnt be.

He is a hard worker who represents the University about as well as anyone can. But if we want to become a consistent 2nd weekend NCAA tournament team, I just dont see that happening anytime soon.

I will take the same stance I did with Charlie Weis. If we can hit an absolute home run, make a move. If we cant, there is no need to start over with another mid major coach. In other words dont make a change for a less experienced coach with the same background.

A few names pop into mind, especially considering there arent a whole lot of big time programs that will have open jobs this year. Maybe Arizona, but other than that we are looking at Alabama and Georgia. Billy Gillespie is on a short leash at Kentucky. I know it has only been two years but Wildcat fans arent very patient. He may want to get out before the hammer comes down. And I am convinced Mark Few is going to burn out at Gonzaga. Has he already taken him as far as they can go? Maybe.

I know these are probably pipe dreams at this point, but unless we can make that dream come true, I say we stay the course.....for now

I agree with much of this, but especially Neutered remarks. We look like an ACC team sometimes and everyone know the Big East is a bangers league. Looking back at the WVU game there were times when they had 3 or 4 guys grab the rebound we had no one there. I like Brey, but this year was bad. If he thought or was planning on a conference record of 9 - 9, he better have something in the bag for next year. Problem I see is how many guys on that bench got meaningful playing time this year. Nash only got minute after the season was gone basically. My next thought is how many will leave thinking, I can sit for better teams than this.

This. Nash should have been playing A LOT more earlier in the year. He brings so much energy and actually scraps for rebounds and plays DEFENSE.

I agree Nash should have been playing a lot more. I would have love to see what the other guys could do. Once it became apparent Hilesbrand and Zeller weren't going to find their game from last year, he could have reduced their minutes more and play others, especially during th e7 game losing streak, some of those games were over mid 2nd half if not sooner. It just feels like a wasted year. I will cheer for us to win the NIT and pray next year is much better.

Nash is the best athlete we have on our team. We will be good next year with the two transfers strating, Nash, Gody, and Jackson

Don't forget Carleton Scott. Nash may be the best athlete on the team, but believe me, Scott is not far behind. I think that those 6, along with Peoples and one of our freshman can give us a solid 8 man rotation.

Brey needs to change though. he has to stress tough defense. If we played defense, we would have won atleast 5 more games

He needs the personel for that. I thought they would be better than what they were with almost everyone coming back...
