Bob Knight to ND?

I am by no means wanting Mike Brey to be fired, because IMO i think Brey is a great coach for ND. But Knight has said he wouldn't mind coaching again if the right oppurtunity arose. So I just ask what would the reception of Knight be by ND fans, if in fact he was hired to be our basketball coach?

I love Mike Brey. I think he's great. But he knows no DEFENSE!!!! Bob Knight would be a big Risk/Reward. How would he portray the University?? Big question. He also at the same time could bring in some damn good talent and Knight is known for being pretty good defensively. I wouldnt mind seeing it. But it wont happen.

yeah i personally don't think he would ever end up here. but i think if he did by some crazy chance, it would bring a whole new level to the program and possibly take ND basketball to another level.

I saw the tirade on ESPN but I did not catch what caused him to lose his cool did you catch it?

I didn't see what caused it either, but I would guess that he went a bit overboard no matter what the call was.

To even suggest or give serious thought to hiring Knight for ND is as close to insanity as one gets! Mike Brey can solve the defense problem by hiring a good assistant defensive coach.

I don't care for Coach Brey, I'd love to have Coach Knight, unfortunately he wouldn't fit in at ND, there is a certain way of conducting yourself at ND and BK doesn't like to be controlled.

i love Coach Brey when it come to him coaching at ND, but the way this season is going, with the expectations before the season start. its just getting hard to watch. My first choice wouldn't be BK but it would be a nice wrinkle in things, even though i know the admin. at ND would never go for some one that they would have to constantly keep there eye on.

In my opinion, Knight is only fit for an assistant role at the moment. He's more of a teacher, and not so much of a recruiter. If your wanting to build a future in a program, I don't feel like Knight is the right man for the job.

The loss to W.VA. is just another reason for Mike Brey to either recognize his inadequacy to coach defense....or...hire an assistant coach to teach defense. I don't think he knows how to teach defense although he recognizes what the team lacks in defensive mode....so, he has a choice to make. He must know that his support to continue coaching at ND is going downhill fast or he can immediately hire a defensive guru to fill his inadequacy. Should he decide to do nothing, then I say we should start looking for a new coach.

I like Brey but he just isn't a good recruiter...Found a diamond in the rough with Luke and a good shooter in K-Mac but thats it. It just suprises me that no big time HS players want to come here...

I agree, I don't think Knight will ever touch foot at ND. That being said they do need some fresh blood, a change...something different from what they are doing now. They have been pretty much the SAME team for 4 years. When it seemed like things were finally going to change this year-BAM-they are the same ND team that has mediocre for the past how many seasons. I like Brey but they need a change, someone a bit more cut-throat. Luke is a bull-but the rest are just to soft for the Big East. Rely way to much on finesse and shooting.

i dont think 24-8 and 14-4 in the big east is mediocre. granted it ended too soon for my liking, but i will take that record every year

Yea I was happy with that too and thought we'd be even better this year but something happend. First of all rebounding is non existant out side of Luke. We haven't hit our 3's or played defense. It's catching up to us. I like Brey a lot but we depend waaaaaaaaaaaay too much on 3's. If we don't hit them, we lose. We may get away with just Luke against inferior teams but thats about it. Change is needed.

I agree. This basketball team is in DIRE need of a coach that can coach defense and rebounding. Like everyone else, I like Brey but there is no excuse to be this LOWSY with pretty darn good talent if you ask me.
