Fan since birth for me. I never had the grades for ND, I was pretty lazy growing up. I had no family member go to ND, but I guess you could say it was my family that got me into it. My grandfather, an Italian immigrant, loved ND as an adult and therefore any game that would be on would be ND, and so my dad would always watch games with his dad. When I grew up, the same thing happend. But to be honest, I have taken it to a whole new level. I am more of a nut than either of them ever were.

I am a lifelong German Catholic Notre Dame fan from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Since I didn't have the physical skills to play at ND, I accepted a football scholarship to the University of Indianapolis, but my love for the Irish never died. I am now hoping one of my three children can now fulfill the family dream and attend the University of Notre Dame.

I'm a Catholic who grew up in Los Angeles and went to The University of Cal. Santa Barabra. I have been a ND fan since the early 80's. I hate USC or also known as the University of South Central.

I've lived a few miles from campus most of my life. I graduated from IU south bend, and have had a few family members graduate from ND.

who are you

who are you

Subway alum struck in awe when those Gold Helmets were loading up waiting to come out of the tunnel on a sunny day in old Pitt Stadium in Pittsburgh (late sixties).

Just a fan. My Grandfather-In-Law graduated from Notre Dame so the whole family are fans, but I was a huge fan some 14 years before meeting my wife. My family's ancestry is Irish, so that's my connection.

Same story here. I live in Texas but my family was one of the first ones to migrate from Ireland to the New World. When I saw ND play on NBC as a wee lad, the rest became history. I graduated from another golden dome school- Baylor- and still wonder what wouldve happened if i pursued ND further.

You would be a huge Baylor fan. With an ND degree. Wondering "what if..."

Ok, trying to get a grasp of posters' connections with Notre Dame. I for one am not an alum, but my godfather is a Brother at Holy Cross, which is my connection. Are you an alum, subway alum......WHATS THE DEAL YO!?

I'm an Irish Italian Catholic...Grew up in PA in the Shadow of JoePA. I respect him, but as young as 5 or 6 I gravitated toward the ND fans in the family, and always ended up listening to or watching the ND game at my grandmother's on Saturday. What made me a lifer was the 1978 Cotton Bowl. A friend of my Dad's snuck in our basement and changed all the christmas lights to orange, and left a little leprachaun hangin' off a longhorn like he'd been gored...I remember being pretty pissed...the old man just laughed and said people always come out of the woodwork when they think they have us...but rarely do they have us...he was right (well back then he was)...and we CRUSHED #1 Texas, with Earl Campbell (Heisman Trophy winner) ...first time I was emotinally invested in a game...been that way since.

Never really thought about going to ND...was never good enough in any sport to go to ND, but was good enough to play football and some baseball at a smaller school...never got past that consideration to think about trying to get in with grades and SATs...so I never applied. Based on what I've heard...doubt I'd have gotten in.

Was in college during the Rocket years...Many repeats of people picking the ND fan to screw with...and back then, I almost always got the last word...seems soooo long ago.

I grew up in South Bend, about 10 minutes from campus, and I have been an ND fan as long as I can remember. I have two aunts and and two uncles (one a double-domer) who are alumni. I, however, chose (yes, it was a choice...I applied to ND just to appease my family, and was accepted) to attend Purdue, as their engineering program is second to almost none.

While I was at Purdue, I rooted for Brees and the Boilers in their "Air raid" campaigns every single week except one.

It was actually pretty cool because there was one other guy in my fraternity that was a die-hard ND fan from Maryland, so he and I together had our fair share of shit-talking and eating crow with the rest of the guys.

I just hope we can turn the program around to the point that at the very least the product we put on the field isn't an absolute embarrassment. Unfortunately, I don't see the current regime doing that.
