the AD said today he is traveling to California to meet with Charlie?

I think maybe Starbucks now wants to accelerate this process, since recruits are asking a lot of questions.

I believe they are both there at the present time but "in different locations" If Swarbrick is gonna fire Charlie Weis it will be in South Bend I believe.

Not what the UHND.com guy says.

Not what the UHND.com guy says.

He says Starbucks said today he is to travel to Cal to "meet" Charlie there.

Again, I heard no such statement, personally.

Hmmm. I guess it may just be rumor or speculation. I guess we will all find out within a few weeks I believe. It is my honest opinion though that Charlie Weis will be back for 09 BUT he must fire some assistants....Mendoza, Oliver, Latina.

. . . what GOOD coach would want to fill those positions, knowing there is a good chance Charlie is gone after next year?

I'm not too sure dude. I think we can NEVER really rule out Urban Meyer. He loves Notre Dame and its his "Dream" job. If we get him, he has damn good assistants. If Charlie Weis is retained as coach then he must get rid of the 3. Who he would get is beyond me. I think we are all gonna learn more in the next 10-14 days. It may be even later than that.

I think that 9 is realistic and 10 or more would be a bonus. But, then again, USC should be the only "given" loss next year.

It's one of the most recent posts on UHND.com borum, but . . .

It's one of the most recent posts on UHND.com borum, but . . .

link? i went to that site and couldnt find anything

i think the guy is way off base.

he refers to a Chicago Tribune "post," but never links to it.

also, the post he cites never say the AD said this, or that he said it today.

so, i would just dismiss it. i find most of the stuff over there has little basis to it.

[and "borum" should read "forum;" not allowed to change the title, apparently.]

like the UHND.com poster mentions:

"Swarbrick and Weis both plan to be in California this week, but if momentum builds in one direction, odds are Notre Dame can dig through television-contract millions and find the flight-change fees."

Is that your realistic expectation, or the threshold to chuck Chuck?

Realistically, with a coach that cannot develop players, I see 6 wins tops next year.

I think that is the whole key to the future right there.I could care less if he gets fired or not because to start with I don't have diddly to do with it nor I doubt anyone else around here does either, plus notre dame wouldn't be able to find anyone worth a crap this year anyway.I saw keep the guy and continue to look for a replacement all next year for the future REGARDLESS of what weis does next year because the guy
SUXXXXXXXX, I mean this guy sux as a coach and when it really comes down to it he always has.

Yeah we all want to believe and whatever each persons beliefs for him to succeed, it's still not going to happen.

I'm sorry, I like the guy, I wanted him to win, I really, really did,but the guy suxxxx.

That was one great proof that he is nothing but a scarred little boy by kicking a field goal saturday night in the 4th quarter down by 31 points.
Is that the CHARLIE WEIS that we all knew and fell in love with his first year?????

I still like the guy,but am really disappointed that he of all people kicked a field goal. That sent the message of weakness and failure that this whole season displayed.

We all can blame it on youth and the assistant coaches all we want, but then again we can all live in denial for another year too.

I'm really, really sorry to be posting this garbage on the team that I love in the only sport that I even care about anymore (college football), and on the man who we all had high expectations for,but once again the guy is not cut out for this job and one more year will not change anything...it rarely does...you either have in a few years or you don't and he just isn't the man everyone thought he would be.

I guess we'll see in what has turned out to be a 3RD REBUILDING YEAR in a row and I can never recall any football team in the history of college football claiming that many rebuilding years.

I also think he fires some assistants too but it probably wont happen until national signing day!

Well if he is back next year, we can expect 9 or ten wins..... then again we can settle with Charlie and his staff underperforming, taking another crushing from USC, and always looking to next year. Hell maybe next year we will win seven and charlie will be fine. Losing doesnt cut it at ND, and he said himself, if he isnt competing for NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS by his 5th year, he should be fired...... how many people think next years team will actually be competing for the national title under Charlie and his style of motivation? anyone really believe that?

ABout kicking the field goal.. I wasn't all too disappointed with the game.. I new exactly how ND was gonna play. The lack of 1st downs, total yards, and the field goal pretty much summed up the entire year. BUT!!! What pushed me over the edge was when Aldridge fumbled. He was running hard and gaining yards.. Then he fumbles...?

USC should be the only "given" loss next year.

Good thing that you put GIVEN in "quotes". AT Michigan (they'll be better), MSU (home or away they're TOUGH on the Irish EVERY year), AT Pitt, Boston College (they have a fairly youthful bunch and beat the hell out of the Irish this year, and AT Stanford (they are on the rise w/ Harbaugh and his staff). So I don't know that USC is the only "given" loss next year!

None of those losses you mentioned are as close to guaranteed as USC, that was his point

You all have good athletic kids at ND, reminds me of Husker problem last year. From the outside you're prolonging agony for yourself keeping a pro coach in college. IMO
