Yeah, I saw that too. I thought the "timing" of all the factors was interesting. Especially the mention about Lou and his situation at Minnesota before they brought him in. I think it'd be a miracle for a top flight coach on top of his game to drop Florida and come to ND...but miracles happen.

Too many recruits are confirming that they have been told that Weis will be back next year. Sorry to burst your bubble.

What do you want him to say? Hey guys, I am not going to be coach next year. He's not going to visit them to tell them that. If Charlie was going to be the coach, Swabrick would have told everyone Sunday.

I think you have it the opposite. While under contract one has the assumption that one is working until told otherwise. The fact that they are taking a week before meeting, tells me that Charlie is safe and sound until next year.

Another option might be that he will be back next year as he has told recruits, but maybe it will be in a different capacity. I don't know as to what that might be, but maybe he steps away as coach and takes a different position in the football office. I can see Corwin Brown taking over as HC and maybe CW stays on as an advisor or recruiting director or something. Tenuta is DC and we hire a new OC and offensive line coach. Corwin can motivate and can get that fire back in the players.

Not saying any of that will actually happen, but it is a possible scenario. That would give CW more time to spend with his charitable organization.

I dunno. Just something I have pondered over the last few days while sitting on the throne when I have some free, quiet time.

And for the record, i predict corwin brown will interview and accept the job in ypsilanti.

I want to reach out to you for your opinion. Midwestguy was proven a fraud by the fact that Charlie right now still has a job. He claimed to have an highly placed friend who said he would be fired at noon today. Obviously that did not happen.

You were the other claiming to have a source. So I want to give you my opinion and get your thoughts. I honestly think the head coach at Notre Dame next year is either going to be Charlie Weis or Urban Meyer. I do not think we are going to get some "flavor of the month." I think Swarbrick will reach out to Meyer and if they can get him, they will. If not, I think Charlie comes back.

Interested in hearing your thoughts.....

my thoughts are parallel to yours....even though you weren't asking specifically for mine. i like the way you think.

even though i think that petersen would be a good candidate, i still think you are spot on.

I just think Swarbrick is under pressure to hit a grand slam, and if he cant do that this year, he is just going to stick with what he has as opposed to starting over, and if need be, try to hit the grand slam next year.

it makes complete sense. and in a way, i can see & understand there apprehension to fire c'dub so soon without having the mega star to take over.

it will most definitely have an effect on recruiting and those that have committed. so they want to have someone in place that will counter those potentially negative effects.

i can't blame them, but i don't want to see another abysmal year under weis either.....it's a tough situation to figure out.

I'm with everyone praying that Urban comes in and gets this program back on track. Evans and Wood wouldn't bat an eyelash if Weis was canned, long as Urban was the coach replacing him.
