One question for all of you who are all over Meyer's jock-strap...
How did Florida do in Recruiting in 2004 and 2005?
Per Rivals: Florida was #7 in the country in 2004 and #15 in 2005.
We were #32 in 2004 and #40 in 2005.
I am not saying Weis is better or worse but Meyer had 4 top 15 classes to work with his first year. Weis only had 2 top 15 classes followed by the 2 worst recruiting performers in ND history.
Weis is great coach in my opinion and would rather have him take us back to the top. I believe!!!!!
You bring one of the many points why Urban Meyer will not leave the gators. he has the ability to recruited any player regardless of grades or off the field actions. We at ND hola our players, coaches to a higher standard which has shown, especially in the speed areas,
Where since the 1995 team, it seems as if we are always one step behind, though the DB's are getting much better.
Another reason Urban won't come, is because he has more that one thing to accomplish to have a great season. He can win the SEC, but loose the BCS. At Notre dame, it is playing for the national title or failure.
You may think I am a cynicist, But playing for Notre Dame from 1995-98, we worked every day for that national title, which has avoided us for 20 years. I played when Coach Meyer was a wide receiver coach, he was young, energetic, and constantly got yelled at by Coach Holtz. You coud see he had the ambition of his players that every day they would improve. Also why leave Florida, they have won the BCS title and the SEC title in 3 years. He is also a very close friend of gators bball coach Billy Donavan.
Charlie Weis is under contract until 2014-15. They AD will give him time to get his own players in the system. Also keep in mind, since 1996-2008, our average record is 7-4 with 0 Bowl wins since 1993. There has been a decline in the program. It is hard when the coach keeps bringing in new coaches, with new styles, new favorites. It is much easier for a defense to install a new system, than the offense. I also thing my old QB Ron P. is doing a great job with all the QB's. It seems sometimes Clausen tries to hard and make a great play to get the septics off his back
