Syracuse - November 22nd.

This is our 1 and only home game after Pitt. If Manti can't make it to this game on a visit, what are his options?

He could attend anytime; official vists aren't limited to game weekends.

They are commonly used as official visit opportunities because the coaches want the recruit to see the school the way it will be for them on gamedays, though.

Or there is also the football banquet which the other 2009 commits attend along with the team.

just my thoughts....Purely based on what i read and observe online, It looks like we are right in the mix for Manti's services. However, I'm not too confident about ND in the end. It just seems like BYU and USC would be likely choices.

USC's general success and linebacker success has got to be a plus for Manti. As well as location.

BYU would be a fitting atmosphere spiritually for Manti. This seemes to be the school of most interest to his family.

Notre Dame is on the rise, only just now finding an identity. The linebacking corps has yet to establish itself as a dominant unit on defense and geographically speaking...you get the point. Of course with negatives, there are the regular positives about Notre Dame.

I just feel like, at 18 yrs. old, a kid is going to be heavily influenced by his family and being closer to home. He wants an NFL future and Notre Dame hasn't yet proven to be able to do that for him as a linebacker. USC has.

That's suprising he wouldn't even consider ND after all CW has done. Whether he goes here or not, you'd think we'd be top 3.

and as for the rivals article, they have always been slightly anti nd so i wouldnt look to far into that. nobody knows for sure, including the recruiting analysts, until the recruit either states it clearly to someone, or even until they sign along the dotted line. he has yet to say that notre dame is out of the picture, the rivals writer is only assuming.

see my comments in Shaq's thread re: that comment about Manti.

but the short answer is yes, they could be in it.

UCLA may creep up into one of the top spots this weekend with a good visit. He speaks highly of Norm Chow, who is also Mormon, and all of Manti's interviews mention how highly he values going somewhere that shares his values.

also, Norm Chow went to the same HS as Manti. the visit to UCLA may have been a big hit. who knows until he verbals.

Recently ESPN analyst Billy Tucker had another slew of questions thrown his way, talked about Teo. Said he thinks it will come down to USC and ND, with UCLA a long shot in third place. Take it for what its worth. Also talks about Shaqs commitment, ND defensive line, ND vs. BC for recruits, and Weis' job security. Link below.

About the article.... It says that ND and SC are in the mix. What makes me think about is how both SC's LB's are gonna "possibly" enter the draft. Meaning, the LB position at SC is gonna be wide open. Something to think about....

i have to think Chris Galiappo has one of those positions locked down after the starters leave. remember watching the kid in the AAA game when jimmy was in it and he won the MVP as a MLB. he would have been a 4 year starter at ND easily, and instead he is riding the pine. too bad.
