I quickly have several favorites. Allen is Mr Outside. Hughes is Mr. Inside. Tate can soar. Clausen can thread the needle. Weis can take a hit and stay in the game. OC can call a good game and make everyone look good. So many favorites so far because they seem to be playing as a team. These guys will be a ferocious threat next year. Probably still 2 years away from a serious Championship threat.

Golden Tate....hands down. And I called it last year when the dude was still raw at WR. I'm not sure how to dig up the post, but I posted on here last season that he's gonna be something really special. Among all the highly-touted young players, he just stood out (and ridiculously, at that) from the first time I saw them play.

If Jimmah lives up to expectations (and it looks like that train is on track,) then I could see Tate at the Downtown Athletic Club before all is said and done.

Timugen - I am with you on that one. Don't know why he was held back. Maybe he had lifestyle adjustments to make? How else can such a gifted athlete not be playing every down? He seems to have every bit the ability of Rocket. Maybe he should have been born 20 years earlier and played under Holtz.

By the way, I have read a few of your posts. I agree with you 100%. Let's start a business. I'm thinkin Hooter's franchise, but I'll consider homecare and accupunture/tanning salon-tatoo-optional.

I'm up for ideas.

Brian Smith, that guy seems to be an emotional leader. He led us out of the tunnel against SDSU, and always seems to make a big play everyweek. I love the fact we have him for 2 more years. Mike Anello close second. Jimmy 3rd for me, he has class and composure. We have been awfully hard on him since he arrived in South Bend. Just remember, his frosh numbers are better in my opinion than Brady's. More efficient, less turnovers, and we all know how Brady turned out!!!

Unless Golden Tate starts returning punts and kicks, he wont get close to winning the Heisman. Look at Crabtree's stats for last year, one of the best for a receiver ever and he wasn't even invited. It takes more than just a receiver to get serious look for the Heisman.

Michael Floyd. LOVE his game. He's special. Being a Socal guy, Clausen is a fav of mine as well. Look at his arm strength now that he's healthy. And how can you not like Tate? Him and Floyd together for 3 years? Please.

Floyd #1

Clausen
B. Smith

Mike Anello is my favorite player. He's not the most valuable player on the team right now, but he's got to be one of the top 10 so far (and, for someone who plays only on special teams, to crack the top 10 is a MONSTER accomplishment).

My favorite offensive player is a tie between Golden Tate, Duval Kamara and Michael Floyd. I loved the tandem of Stovall / Samardzija / McNight, but I think that the Tate / Floyd / Kamara trio will be better in the end.

My favorite defensive player is Pat Kuntz. Got to love the crazy haircut and crazy skillz! I love his energy on the field and he's really fun to watch...whether he's playing or just chilling on the sideline.

Isnt it fun to legitimately have players to get fired up about again on offense AND defense? (and special teams, Mike Anello!)

I will not jump off the HUUGGGGGGHHHEESSSS bandwagon, but I like Tate and Floyd a whole bunch, as well as Brian Smith. I will include an O-lineman on my list once we clear 150 rushing in 2 consecutive games.

Well Crabtree wasn't playing on a national broadcast every week....

....for Notre Dame

....with the name "Golden."

I think you forget that the Heisman is just as much (if not more so) about hype and marketing as it is about who the best player actually is.

:whoknows:Just sayin'.....

EDIT: And last I checked, Tate DOES return kicks.

I have a 3-way tie.
1. Mike Anello - I wish we could put 22 of them on the field.
1. Darrin Walls - My favorite player last year...he'll be back even stronger in '09
1. Michael Floyd - So much potential

Isn't it surprising that we are 2 and 0 and nobody has mentioned Maurice Crum. Before the season, most people would have said that he was our best player. I think that says a lot about how well the youngsters are playing this year.

I would say Pat Kuntz because of his motor and the emotion and joy he plays with.

Also, Mike - Freakin' - Anello! Fuggetaboutit!!!

The kid just embodies Notre Dame football to me.

Anello for sure, but Mo Crum is just solid, and reliable. I also love the way Brian Smith plays w/ a chip on his shoulder. Plus I have always been partial to "phat" backs, got love the mini-bus HUUUGGGHHHEEESSS!!!

Crum and Floyd. Crum has been great during his stay at Notre Dame and Michael Floyd is just starting to show that he has the potential to be one of the best receivers in the country.

That's a tough one. There are non that I dislike. On defense, it has to be David Bruton. On offense, HUUUUUUUGHES!

Clausen is the man and his numbers are going to start going way up as the offense develops and we get into the softer part of the schedule. Allen is 2nd for me. I'm just waiting on him to explode, but Hughes, Golden & Floyd may move in 2nd eventually.

Damn! I was waiting for someone to say Kuntz! That guy has the "nasty" attitude we've been waiting to see for years. He just wants to hit people, hard.
