6 wins however is NOT what they should win. It would be back to back INFERIOR seasons with SUPERIOR talent. That to me would require a new Head Coach.
To me, that is definitely the Head Coach's fault, but it doesn't necessarily require a change of coaches. I don't think you can underestimate what Weis has accomplished so far. He took an incredibly mediocre group of Quinn, Samardzija, Stovall, and Walker, and turned them into an offensive juggernaut. That is the ability of Charlie Weis. Is he guilty of perhaps misjudging his ability to sustain that success? Absolutely. But, if he learns from that mistake, who would not want his ability on the sideline? Plus, think about what a salesman he has been: After winning just 3 games, he convinced one of the brightest stars of all the Coordinators in the country (Tenuta) to take a LESSER position at ND, despite the fact that the guy was on a ton of short lists for a Head Coaching position. With those kinds of skills in the art of persuasion, is there any doubt that he will continue to recruit well, and be able to bring in great assistant coaches?
