Anybody know if the site moderators are hosting the contest where you pick 10 games and then pick the points for the game of the week like we did last year? I know that GoshenGipper, unfortunately, is no longer with us and he did probably 95% (maybe more) of the work for that contest but I was just checking to see if this contest was starting back up since the first games start Saturday. If the contest is held maybe it should be named after him or something, i dont know. Let me know if anyone has any info. Thanks.

I think it's a great idea. If there aren't any objections, I'll start it up though I could probably use some help later on should me schedule tighten up.

This is just a sample. DO NOT POST PICKS IN THIS THREAD!!

After viewing this weekends football schedule, I now realize I will have a relaxing Saturday ahead of me. I think these 10 games will be decent to pick. This isnt official, so dont post your picks, but I it's up to Pham since he volunteered to set this up. They need would need to be posted by Saturday before 12:00 EDT. Will be prizes administered like they were last year? Not like it mattered for me because I finished like 28th. We have time to figure the extra stuff out, but i think an official thread should be posted on so everyone can get their picks in and notice that there is a contest going on. Let me know what you think. And if you needed help I could probably try to help out of you get busy down the line.

The rules were pretty straight forward, you pick the games straight up, no point spreads or anything. So if you think USC will beat Virginia straight up, then you pick USC. Your post would look like this:

USC at Virginia

and list the rest of the games the same way.

The "game of the week" game is where you would try to pick the final score of both teams. So if you picked Fresno St to beat Rutgers, you would bold the team you picked to win and write in bold their respective score after it. So if you picked Fresno St 28-24, your post would look like this:

Fresno St at Rutgers (Game of the Week) 28-24

(Writing the score in bold just makes it easier to read for the person tallying the points.)

I'm not exactly sure on how the "game of the week" point system worked but i think you got 10 points if you got the scores exactly right, 5 if you got one of them exactly right, 3 if you were within 2 points of getting both right and 1 point if you were with in 3 points of getting one of the scroes correct. That probably makes zero sense so I will leave the Game of the week rules up to someone else. Game of the week is basically a tie breaker.

Besides that, you get one point for for each game you get right. 10 games a week plus the game of the week points.

Sample post.

#20 Illinois at #6 Missouri
Washington at #21 Oregon

Thanks Weis4Pres, that makes a lot more sense... I am definitely down and if somehow we could charge like 10 Vbucks to participate each week and then winner gets the payout at the end, that's be fun

I'm down for that too, I dont understand how the vbucks thing works, but i know the moderators gave out a huge vbuck prize last year i think somehting like 500,000 to the winner, 250,000 for 2nd etc..... And i think the winner also got a watch. Can anyone confirm that? I edited that previous post because i re-read and tried to make it a little more clear.

and not to make an example out of goldandblue, but his picks are already messed up and he could lose out on points because he didnt write the score for the game of the week. this happens to alot of people. PLease dont post your picks. I think there will be a separate thread coming out to do so. this is just a sample thread!!!

Great idea. Count me in! If (and hopefully when) the mod does the contest, maybe he can explain what vbucks are and how they work for us newbies...
