Are you for real? First off I wrote the original post like 2 weeks ago, so I don't know where this comes from. Second of all, it's stupidity, not optimism. Why, before we saw all our competitors suck this weekend, did you think we'd go 11-1? Have you EVER given any reasons besides "I'm just optimistic"??? You said we'd beat USC for Pete's sake!
Let me ask you this: Would you ever predict ND to go anything less than 10-2? I highly, highly doubt it. You're so 'optimistic' that you couldn't bear to do it. I mean, the friggin' board moderator called you out when you changed your prediction from 8-4 to eventually 11-1. You couldn't even bear your own prediction until you changed it to 11-1. So if ND goes 11-1, you making that prediction bears no weight whatsoever because, as WWB already pointed out, you haven't backed it up with any facts. Any blind man could say his favorite team will go 11-1. DID YOU EVEN SEE ONE GAME LAST YEAR??? (Ummm, we went 3-9 and lost to Navy.)
I know I sound like an a**hole, but dude, it's friggin' annoying. You're bragging about this, even though your first prediction was different and changed 4 times and you got called out? I mean, 500 posts in a month, and maybe 10 of them brought something to the table. I've been reading this site for 2 years, finally joined the same month as you because it is such a great site, and to me, many of your posts embarrass this site. I feel like yelling, "Da Bears!" every time you post (that's for the SNL fans out there---"Who do you think would win in 100 meter dash, Ditka or Carl Lewis? DITKA!").
I'm no big sh*t either, but I feel like at least I have a functioning, realistic brain when I read/post. ND fans should be passionate (and are), and they should be optimistic--to a point. Don't be foolish; that just makes the rest of us fans look like the idiots in the SEC!
