God i just want this kid here. Think he fits the notre dame mold perfectly....would be amazing in Tenuta's and Browns Blitz happy aggressive defensive styles. I cant wait to see our defense this year. As long as our offense keeps the defense from being on the field the whole game, i think we have a easy shot at a top 10 defense.

Don't push it. Our DL is still underwhelming and until I see it some teams are going to be able to run on our D at will (see last season). I see improvements because of a talent increase (competition) but top 10 is borerline insane at this point. In 2-3 years I think it's a possibility.

Top 10 defense, IF, and thats a big IF our offense keeps our defense from having to play the whole game, which it hasnt proven to be able to do yet (see last year). Our defense was solid most of the games (except USC) in the first half, but got generally demolished in the second half do to being on the field the whole game. As long as our offense has improved, the defense will see dramatic improvement. The best offense is a good defense, and vise versa.

i am a huge fan and think ND will be much better this year. but anyone who expects a top 10 anything from a 3 and 9 team then thats crazy. expect a better team but i can name 10 teams in the SEC who should have a better D than ND.

osu is going to have a great d this year too. and yes the sec is full of teams that should have great defenses this year. i dont see our team getting top ten. not this year anyways. next year i see it with our cb coming back and the depth and talent we will have

I love the Irish as much as the next guy here but I'm not delusional and no way is ND's defense anywhere near being a top 10 defense. It's getting better and that will continue but based on talent alone ND is nowhere near that level. Weis and Co. have been getting some very good players but not the super mega stud difference makers.

I dont know if im delusional but that is my opinion. UCLA went from having a team ranked near the bottom of the country to a top ten defensive team only 2 years ago. Again, IF our offense can actually move the ball, which i believe it will with haywood calling the plays, the defense will be amazingly improved, even TOP 10 potential. Plus our schedule this year does not have any amazing powerhouse offenses that we have to worry about except USC and possible Pittsburgh. and the SEC does have alot of great defenses, but they are also going against great SEC offenses.....dont think u can name 10 that will be better than ND.

yes USC LSU OSU UGA VT OU UT Wisconsin Alabama illinois CAL BC Auburn tell me if u want more. ND will be better but there are teams with better offenses with more experience and defenses with more experience and talent ND will be better and the talent is getting there but there is no way ND will be a top ten D

Jelani is all Irish, I really don't have any sources except for my gut on this one and the huge jug of kool aid that I keep refilling, but put it in the bank...he's all Irish

haha True but I will always have faith in what WWB says because it usually has the best outcome for ND. So I will always hope that he is right.

his visit to LSU evidently went well according to scout.

Actually I believe it was his mother and step-father (without him) that recently visited LSU. They were in Baton Rouge for a conference or seminar and decided to visit the campus, meet with Miles and talk to the academic dept.

Honestly, do they ever say a visit did NOT go well? Just asking becuase I don't have a subscription and all I ever seem to hear are good visits.

Calabrese won't be seeing the field as a starting LB any time soon especially if Jenkins comes.

B. Smith, Filer, neal, flemming (if he stays at LB), Jenkins (if he comes) will play .

I think its hard to project a guy that A) hasn't even made a decision and B) probably needs to add weight and C) hasn't played his senior year in HS, as a major role player or even starter as a true frosh so far ahead of time. We have a lot of talent already on campus that will be a year ahead of Jenkins as far as experience. Is he a dynamic athlete? yes, but freshman are still freshman.

I think we get him if we win early in the season and I do believe this will be the difference in alot of recruits as it did matter last year and the year before.

My gut tells me it is never to early to start drinking even at work.

My gut tells me I need to get a job with the Polish Irishman (although I'm Ukrainian, we might have to fight once a week just to keep up appearances)
