Camp hill is my neighboring town, and the school he plays for is a small catholic school. They have unreal basketball but are terrible at pretty much everything else (recruit for bball). I haven't seen him play personally but I asked people who have and they said he is just a solid athlete, playing against little boys.

Maybe they are way off and he tears it up at some camps. I also don't blame him for going to camps because you are going to get no press playing football for the school that he does. Just from what people who have seen him play tell me is that they would be shocked to ever see him play WR at a ND or Penn State.

see, that's the kind of info that is helpful. my whole point is rather than just offering a conclusion, give us some facts.

as an aside, he can't help the talent level he plays against either. one thing that the camps allow is the coaches to evaluate a player under the same tests/criteria/situations as other recruits who played against better competition.

Christian Kuntz, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound wide receiver from Camp Hill (Pa.) Trinity.

“My dad went to college and played at Maryland,” he said. “I’ve always had a thing for Maryland and grew up watching Notre Dame a lot too. Right now out of all the schools recruiting me though, UConn is on top.

“I am hearing from them, Notre Dame and Maryland. I’m looking at heading to a few more camps, Penn State Tuesday, Maryland Thursday, Virginia next Monday and Notre Dame at the end of June. They are all recruiting me heavily.”

I doubt those numbers are official. I will wait to pass judgement until I hear some numbers from a camp but we'll see.

Matt Kranchick - graduated from Trinity approx 1998, went to PSU on a scholarship and was drafted to the NFL
Chris Crane - graduated in 2004, is currently attending Boston College on scholarship. Crane is penciled in as the starting QB this year.

And I thought Wilkins went to school in Washington, PA (also a Trinity HS, but public)??

kranchik did nothing in HS, he was uncoordinated and just happened to get some coordination in college. He never really worked hard and didn't play much in Penn State, but had a few good games and 1 really long TD reception.

Not sure on Crane, wasn't around for him. Kranchik was more my time.

so what if he did nothing in HS. he went on to play Div-1 football and got drafted into the NFL. If the level of competition didn't stop him from going that far, it shouldn't stop Christian.

As it turns out, it looks like neither Kuntz nor Eifert will get an offer. In fact, it is being reported that no further WR offers are going out this year.

It is unclear whether that would remain true if all the offerees out there commited elsewhere before NSD, but that's only hypothetical at this point.

The fact that this class is going to be smaller and that last years class was a true #1 class (wait till September, Bama will drop when it can't get its 32 recruits admitted) is probably the reason for this.

It appears the staff only want 2 WR and 1 TE recruits for 2009 and they locked up TE and feel good about their chances with the remaing 5 or so WR offers out there.

I went to school with Will Wolford. He was a decent player in HS, but hardly stood out. Gerry Faust pulled his ND offer 2 weeks bfore NSD, so he went to Vanderbilt. He blossomed in NFL, mutli pro bowler, in 3 Superbowls etc, highest paid lineman at one time. I NEVER would have thought that was ever possible in HS. NEVER.

Apparently, I'm in the minority that thinks this kid is worth a scholly. I look for desire to play for ND almost as much as the physical attributes one brings to the table. I'll take heart over brute strength any day.

Heart and Desire will never allow me to run a 4.3 forty.

I love ND with all my heart, yet I still would not be any good. Taking someone because they love the school is an incredible way to recruit average talent. Ty Willingham recruited that way and relied on people who loved the University, we all see how well that worked out.

i think what he is trying to say is he would take the person who loves the school and wants to be there if he is a bubble kid. hes not saying fill up the roster with 2 and 3 star athletes. but go after the big fish but keep the ones that are still good eating too

Good luck to him. I know ND isn't for everyone, but I have no idea why any 18yr old kid would want to play for a 135yr old coach.

I don't blame him. PSU seems like the biggest school that offered him. Good for him.

I'm suprised with his verbal to Penn St. I had the impression he really wanted an offer from ND so he could commit with us. I guess you never know what they are really thinking!!

I think he really did want an offer from ND. But it recently came out (through Kuntz) that ND is not going to offer any more WR's (the position Kuntz would play if he went to ND) for 2009.

so i think accepting the PSU offer was him making his decision, having not received a ND offer.
