I haven't seen this covered yet so i thought i would ask everone their opinon on this. So who's it gona be san deigo st. and the start to a winning streak or is it gona be mich. st. so we show the cfb world we can beat them good or is it gona be u$c to show how far we've come this year. In your opinion and in your words tell IE wich game is the biggest and why. Also something I didn't cover, could it be a bowl game and our first win in one of those in a long time.

UM followed by USC, are there really any other games?

Obviously USC is the toughest opponent, but I'm anxious to see both UM and MSU in weeks 2 and 3. It's at least probable this year that we could beat Michigan because they will be below average, while MSU is just the opposite, they're probably going to be above average, so both of these games will give us an idea of what kind of team ND is going to have for the rest of the season.

I think it is Michigan. I think a lose to them will not look good. They have a new head coach and a whole new system to learn. I just feel that we have a lot more to lose in that game than they do.

actually, i think that is it. Coming off last season, they have to build on each weeks' success. With every win, there is the risk that the team and the fans assumes, "Ok, they're back..." But I don't think that is the case. They have to build and show improvement each and every game this season.

Some of those games are must wins because a loss would certainly stop the mental momentum of the young players.

I can't get away from my bias on this one. For me, every year the U$C game is HUGE!

Outside of my feelings for my family, the only emotion I have that comes close in intensity to my love of Notre Dame is how much I despise the Trojans!

I think that it is the Michigan game. I think there is a psychogical edge that the Skunkbears and Condoms have over our Irish right now, and we need to break through in a big way. I think a nice win over the Aztecs, perhaps in a 28/31-10 fashion would be a nice way to start the season, so as not to get too much overconfidence heading into a game that many say we should win over UM. A victory, regardless of score, vs. Michigan could set the table for a pretty amazing season.

Biggest game for me is SDSU. I think alot of people are already looking past them but that's the make it or break it game for the Irish. We win then hopefully we have the confidence to have a very good season. We lose, I look for another 3-9 and a Weis firing. Having played football most of my youth, I know how much confidence plays into winning and no matter what anyone says, it does. I think that is what happened to the Irish last year. The ass kicking from G.T. set the tone for the rest of the year.

I have to agree that it's SDSU. This may not be their toughest competition, but this is the game that could very well set the tone for the entire season. They lose this game and I don't see us winning too many others, especially since this should be their "gimme" game, if there ever is such a thing. If they can't beat SDSU, then I don't see them beating more than half the teams on the schedule.

I seriously think they can win this one, but if they don't, it will definitely be trouble for the entire season and could mean Weis is through.

Agree on San Diego State. It will either cause last year to be a distant memory, or all too familiar.

No it's not. They thumped us 38-0 last year. And the game wasn't even THAT close. So they have a new coach, and a new system? Remember what CW did, in his first year? So you think Rich Rod is no CW? Well, at least Rich Rod has won a bowl game. I'm not saying that I won't be hoping for an Irish win, or that I don't think we can beat Michigan. I'm just saying let's not count that as even a probable win, just yet.

Pittsburgh. I figure at that point we will either be rolling (7-0 or 6-1 or 5-2) or hovering right around .500 (4-3 or 3-4) Pittsburgh's first 7 games are all winnable, and I would be amazed if they are not atleast 6-1 if not 7-0. They should be ranked in the Top 25 at this point. Could be an important swing game to decide if we make a push for the Gator Bowl or even a BCS Bowl, or if we have to settle for a low-tier bowl game.

For me, its ALWAYS USC. I hate those condomns with a passion. I just do not have any respect for their players or their fans. (I lived there for 10 years) I would love for us 2 upset them and see Poodle cry...I wanna make that game a few years ago a distant memory. PLEASE IRISH! I believe!!

SDSU, just ask michigan what happens when you underestimate an opponent in the first week. God I love bringing that up every chance I get!

OMG. If we lose to SDSU, the team goes 0-12.

I think everyone will be looking past SDSU...except the team. This is a game where I think the team plays with a chip on their shoulder (the first of 13 this season), I just hope the game does not get ugly. As I said earlier, a 31-10 kind of W is a good start to the season, with plenty for CW to criticize to keep the team on an even keel headed into the Michigan game. I mean, really. This is a game that should have 49-7 written all over it. ON offense, SDSU is not Appalachian State or Stanford, for that matter. Cynicsm after an abysmal year is to be expected, everyone, but come on! We are ND. Let's get the swagger back. Expect to win.

My take is that the biggest game will be against michigan. The 1st game will be looked at as a scrimmage. Important to get going and get the rust out, but still not a big deal because of the expectations of everyone. But show up strong against scUM and then we can start on a decent year.

Only as long as we "take it one game at a time", "don't look past our opponents", and understand that "they put their pants on one leg at a time", just like us. As long as "we bring our lunch pails", and "work like a bunch of blue collared hard workers, we should be all right". We'll have to "give it our all on every play" and "know we can't afford to take any plays off".

i opt to play the "emotional female card" so no matter how sound the arguments of other games go, I HATE MICHIGAN. That is the game that decides how I ultimately feel about the season.
and now that Rich "Can't beat the D-2 Mountaineers, let alone the D-1" Rodriguez is there, they must win even more.

my personal take on this season is every game should be a fight from the opening kickoff to the last whistle. That is what football is all about,4 quaters of all out emotion and toughness and speed all wraped up in every play,be it offense or defense or even special teams. You go on that field and you don't stop at just good enough you should never accept what you've done but always want to be better. enough of my babbleing the biggest game,to this team should always be the one they are playn in

SDSU without a doubt. Of all the 'bad' things that happened to the team last year, a lack of confidence...or rather the ability to gain some confidence was the worst. ND doesn't need to crush SDSU, but they DO need to be able to do the basics effectively.
