it would seem to me that cave is the true center from the class. Golic i heard would probably be a better shot at longsnapping duties. I would assume Golic would turn into a guard for us. Having Romine,Trev,Cave,Golic,Clelland is a pretty good front. I think Golic's position will depend how well he performs after he gains the necessary weight seeing how he is only 260.

Nuss would also be an option at guard, but we will have to see how it plays out. also, does anyone know if olsen, stewart or wenger are eligible for a fifth year? i dont remember if they played or not as freshmen.

wenger and stewart both redshirted so they are eligible for a 5th year but not olsen.

Golic is actually right around the 280 mark as well right now and like posted above he will play guard coming in. Also he will start from day 1 as the long snapper.

great news. im glad it didnt take long for him to start gaining weight, it will be great to see our olinemen all be over 300 other than the incoming freshmen, and even cave and robinson will be over 300.

Weis says he likes shooting for 15 scholorshiped olinemen so that means 4 this class.

good points across the board. who all are we looking at as far as lineman go and who do the gurus see as a heavy lean for us?

I find it interesting that ND does not have many offers out. But i would guess that's because they know who they want as their Tier 1 players. Hopefully we can land the guards we need in Bullard, Watt or Lowe. The Tackles however im not aware of any that we would be leading or even a option for at this point.

you guys think we will hit that mark with quality players?

I have read at other places that this is a really deep year at O line and even if we don't hit the 5* guys like Shrive and Nixon, there are several still out there we would do good to get and not be taking plan B guys. I think we stand pretty good w Nixon,(at least in his final 5), we look good in Lowe (we were better until Okla got into the mix late) and both Bullard and Watt are even possible leans toward us. This is just from me remembering what others have posted, so I reserve the right to have mis-remembered.

I think we have 8 offers out now- 5 OTs (Alajajian, Lowe, Martin, Nixon, Schofield and Filo) & 2 OGs (Bullard and Watt). I see on this site we are also listed as having 1 Center offer out- Walters, so that gives us 9. I am sure more will come out as the summer whips by.

if so it sounds like we are persuing the oline alittle bit harder than i had originally thought. and if it is a deep year for the line then we just may find a diamond or two. i would still like to get that guy out of texas but it just doesnt look like hes ready to leave home

Do you mean Lowe, the OT from Texas? I think he is actually leaning heavily towards U Tennessee. The big Texas schools happened to go early w some of the nations best OTs, and he didn't get a Tex or A&M offer.

Prob is still looks like Tenn, but his thread says he is scheduling an official visit here during the Mich game, so you never know.

thats great. i mean if he actually waits that long. whenever we can get a recruit to a game in southbend its almost a done deal. plus with the kind of atmosphere around the stadium and parking lot. i hope he cant wait to see us live. (granted i have never been to a game at home but living through all of you guys is where i get the mental image)
