What is considered "rich" nowadays? And yeah-who TF wants to pay more taxes?

Do you take tax deductions? Use an Accountant to minimize your tax burden? If so-why? Just pay the max amount, absent deductions, to pay your fair share.

No one said they are doing something illegal by taking all of the deductions they can under the law. The laws need to be addressed so that the 1% are paying more, but that's not the point of this discussion.

The point is that they aren't going to flee states if states start taxing them more. They've been threatening for decades and never do it. They are empty threats, or empty enough that the few that do leave are an insignificant portion.

Was Seek correct you’re just a mailroom guy? This is such a sad emotional post from someone who doesn’t understand how taxes work. Yikes.

Lmao. All in the eye of the beholder. Does it matter if I'm a mail room guy? Seek is rarely correct. He's actually never been correct about me. Maybe his people can find something about me, but doubtful.

I believe these significant tax increases will, and have, resulted in people leaving. I also find it humorous that the Left wants everyone else to pony up for their social programs.

If you want to pay more taxes, knock yourself out. Pay mine, please. If you do, you'll realize I don't do mail. You've actually-I'm sure, much to your chagrin- commented very favorably on my profession.

Statistics do not support this belief.

These proposed taxes do not affect you, me, Toronto, or anyone else using IE. People on the rights hard on for defending the super wealthy as if they're even the same economic species as them baffles me. The top 1% in the US holds 30x the combined wealth from the bottom 50%. We could tax the ultra rich 95% and they would still be obscenely wealthy.

Evidence is mixed and highly debated. While some studies show high-income earners do move from high-tax to low-tax states (e.g., Florida, Texas), comprehensive research indicates that millionaires generally have low migration rates and rarely move solely because of income tax hikes.

There are many factors I could argue about. Fairness, the moral righteousness, leakage; whereby taxes on the ultra wealthy will leak down to more middle class or above average earners/savers, and piss poor stewards of our money and oversight.

Trickle-down economics? False. Stick to running taxes for H&R Block.

Keep trolling.

Uh oh, more emotional outbursts. These tend to happen when people don’t know what they’re talking about. Word game and applying stamps would fit better.

If you tax the ultra wealthy on 95% of their increase in net worth (or their income, anything really) you immediately cause the greatest stock market crash of all time and destroy the economy. Hopefully you’re not stupid enough to believe the “my secretary pays more in taxes than Mitt Romney did” bullshit

I wasn't suggesting we should. Just illustrating how insanely wealthy the richest 1% actually are. Our brains are bad at contextualizing large sums. If you took 95% of someone like Elon Musk's wealth away instantly he would still have $40 billion dollars left.

If you earned $1,000 per minute it would take you 80 years to earn 40 billion. The level of wealth these people are amassing is obscene.

Sure, it is obscene but it is also incredibly fake. Elon Musk isn’t actually worth that much money.

Wrong. It's already happening in New York. Hedge funds and PE firms are fleeing for Texas and Florida, largely because of the new socialist mayor who's already run out of other people's money.

Are they trying to get anybody fired? Come on you’re smarter than this take.
They want it taken down. I was told for years about how the Government was coordinating to suppress “conservatives” because white supremacists were getting taken down. I was told they still had a right to post their shit.

Why aren’t those ferocious free speech absolutists upset that TPUSA wants someone to intervene?

Those that pride themselves on being free speech champions strangely only seem to get upset when neo nazis and white nationalists lose their ability to tweet or post.

You think that TPUSA asking for the removal of the audio clip of a murder is the same thing as people being banned from Twitter from posting the New York Post article about Hunter Biden’s laptop(at behest of the government)? Or can you use the 3.5 billion years of evolution that lead to the development of a brain capable of higher order thinking and maybe realize that there’s a tangible difference between the two?

Is TPUSA calling out the specific high schoolers who made the clip famous? Are they calling their colleges getting their acceptances revoked (like what happened with Kyle Kashuv)

"I believe" even nominal research is above you. JFC you guys - this isn't even a controversial take. Net migration from Cali and NY are extremely well documented. Low tax states have been eating their lunch.

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/economy/growth/net-migration

Its not even the "rich" - its the heavily pensioned. Hilarious that the NJ/NY state coffers pump up southern economies. SS + pension has lots of your union folk making more in retirement than they did working. They buy McMansions in Florida with the sale of their $1M 1200sf dump and save $500/month on state income taxes if they are earning a combined $100k (which is on the low side for a two pension couple even with early retirement).

Wisconsin has watched utilities like a hawk for decades to catch people living six months and a day in WI so they can claw taxes from the snowbirds. You don't have to make crazy money for that Florida condo to pay for itself.

Keep pretending that's not a thing, its cute.

I think those that were screeching about Trump’s intel agencies working with Twitter to censor Hunter Biden’s laptop would be upset at a political org trying to do the same.

Are they not putting those girls on blast? Isn’t that what people got upset at CNN doing to that kid years ago?

Live by the sword, die by the sword. TPUSA has made a business over being inflammatory so I shed no tears for them getting what they put out. I also find it funny free speech folks don’t care.

Snowbirds leaving the Midwest to live off their pensions aren’t in the 1% or .1% which is what the discussion was about lol.

There you go thinking again. You should stick with issues that impact Canada.

Dating an American, have American property, and pay taxes in the US. Think I’m allowed to have an opinion. Nobody tells you that you can only comment on what stamps to use.
