Hoping this isn't a Terry for Gay swap out, it would be a massive downgrade.

Don’t really think the staff views things that linearly. Terry and Gay aren’t really anything alike so I doubt it. Gay’s highlights are that of a nickel cover corner. Terry’s are mostly being a physical safety.

Very much agree which is why I hope that's not the case here.

He was a nickel/safety prospect that I believe has similar traits to Nick Reddish. Wish we did not lose him, but not something I am overly bothered by. I also think the staff will make up for it by getting a good safety class.

Only thing he has going for him is that Mickens offered him. He rarely swung and missed on the dudes he recruited.

Curious how you can be so massively down on Gay and like Terry after their respective highlights. Reddish is a better version of Terry IMO.
Terry is a ball hawk w/superior ball skills and instincts. I also love a player with the athleticism to be effective playing both ways. I just wasn't impressed with Gay last season (he looked terrible vs St Frances Academy) and I'm guessing until Notre Dame recently not many schools of relevance were either, he was set to be a Golden Bull until we got in the picture.

Idk. He basically has almost no coverage highlights in a DBs highlight tape. Tough to really elevate him that much for NDs scheme.

I don’t really see the ball hawk, ball skills thing either.

He can tackle well. High floor, not sure we can’t find it every year at ease.

Gay has an OV set to Ole Miss and Florida is after him now so characterizing him by old USF interest seems a bit unfair narrative. I don’t think Gay is special either but not passionate either is a massive upgrade over the other

Terry is definitely a ball hawk he has about 10 picks and 24 deflections over the past 2 yaears. Gay has 49 tackles and 2 picks with 3 deflections in his CAREER! Terry bettered those numbers alone last year.

Sitting 20 yards back and catching an arm punt from a future frat kid isn’t always being a ballhawk.

Gay and Terry again don’t even play the same position. Most of Terry’s INTs are playing deep safety. Gay is playing nickel. If it’s true that Terry hasn’t been committed for a month, I don’t know this continued 1 v 1 makes any sense. Gamble would be part of this too. It seems like Mickens liked him a lot and Henry doesn’t, public release of info being back to back doesn’t make them connected.

Agreed but he's a much better, twitchier and instinctive player than Gay is at this point. I'll just keep it in perspective regardless if it's Van Wilder throwing passes or Uncle Rico.

Can I just say I don't think Gay or Terry will/would be significant contributors to a championship defense?

Maxpreps has it as 8 and 22, is it missing games?

Starting to worry that no longer playing in California every year(SoCal in even years, NoCal in odd years) will hurt our CA recruiting.
