Thinking of going to the Spring Game got some questions.

Hey everyone. Unfortunately at my job it’s not looking good for me to get paid off in the fall to go see a real game (I used my first choice for vacation for the Indy 500 & NASCAR at at WWT Raceway both of which I already paid for). However, the spring is wide open to get paid off & I could possibly go to the spring game. I do have to ask (and I ask in the most respectful way possible) is it worth going to or should I just wait until next season to see a real game to have my first experience at ND stadium? If there’s still some cool game day like thing before the spring game this could be a good way for me to be able to have a nice trip & see the boys play but if there really isn’t much going on that weekend and you experienced fans think it would be better suited to just wait until 2027 for a home game I’ll take yall at your word. If it is worth it to go, what all should I go do and see before the game? Thanks!

Compare the Spring Game to Spring Training in the MLB. It gives you a taste and it’s fun to see new players for the first time…but as fun as it is, it doesn’t hold a candle to an actual ND gameday. My son is 5 and he’s been to three B/G games now. It’s great to take your kids to if they aren’t quite ready to commit to 2.5 hours in the fall. You can move around and watch from any part of the stadium.

So, yeah. It’s fun. It’ll either be snowing or beautiful. There is no in between. Campus is a 10/10 regardless. But if it’s just you coming, I’d save my first time for a real gameday.

There's a chance the spring game could change in the future.
However, I think by not having a post season at all this year Freeman may keep the formatting the same at least one more year.

I'll second what MacIrish75 wrote. The spring game is great for kids. The tickets are dirt cheap and its not assigned seating. The other fans are really gracious when they see young kids, so the kids end up having a great experience.
For adults... there is nothing like a real game. I will go a step further and say that if you are going for a game, go against a good opponent. I have 4 kids, so with the wife it didnt make sense for me to try to score 6 tickets on the secondary market for a top tier game. It would have cost too much money for me. So I took my kids to the spring game and they loved it and got exposed to the stadium and team.
Now my son is older and lives and breathes ND football, so at this stage I am thinking seriously of trying to score 2 tickets to a top tier game (no SC anymore sadly) like Miami this year.
So as always, the answer is both.

Are any of the “normal” game day traditions going on the week of the Spring game? Basically do I get anymore than what’s at face value to give me a semi-satisfying taste of ball at ND stadium or just wait till next year to try & get the full plate at a home game? If I didn’t already have non refundable plans for the Indy 500 (which in all fairness is something else I’m passionate about) I would’ve took that fall vacation for a home game.
