Gentlemen, if Evilleish ever says anything worth listening to would one of you extract that from the crap and put it into a thread comment? I now I'm being selfish, but that way I can push "Ignore" on his useless guano. (which I just have done).

Lockett and Jontez are both in their fourth year of college and listed as undergraduate transfers by the services. Score one for the “academics shouldn’t matter “ crowd.

Nice! It will interesting to see if the prestige of playing at ND will matter more to him than the large sums of cash Texas Tech will throw at him... Better yet, what if ND matches ? :)
Highly doubtful match what that billionaire over in Lubbock likes to throw around but if prestige matters at all, then we carry more than are weight in Gold.

How many years of eligibility does Lockett have?

It looks like two, but could be one. He took the traditional redshirt as a freshman in '22, and missed a whole season due to injury in '24. I can't recall the rules for a medical redshirt (season)

It's not that easy. Say TT and ND have the same transfer portal budget (7m). What if Tech is willing to pay 5.2 for a DT. Do you offer 5.3.to show that you're all in, and do without help elsewhere?

Freeman is also a culture guy who has repeatedly stayed that if it's all about the money then you're not choosing ND for the right reasons.

On basic principle. Freeman isn't going to overpay guys because that doesn't fit the culture he's worked hard to establish.

It is though. In your claim that ND is the Joe Schmo making 150K and wants a 6M house, that would be putting up Colorado State vs TTU.

ND will obviously have a budget and if it leads TTU into blowing theirs on something insane that is a net win.

Culture is important, but think about yourself, if you're given an opportunity to get 40% more at another company you're going to listen to that offer.

Besides a WR and a few DTs, I don’t think they have any true “needs”. In a season where they are settled with a homegrown QB, they should have some extra cash.
Experienced CB/Nickel might be a need after the deflections and certainly a K

That's what I was saying the other day, for better or for worse, there are hardly any GTs out there. Even with 3-4 years under their belt, you still simply see most veteran players with the tag "with one year remaining."

With all the money and jostling going on with NIL and TP, there doesn't seem to be much focus on actually getting an undergrad degree any longer.

FWIW, Ryan Roberts isn't a fan of Thompson. I'm curious what Jamie of ISD thinks.

I’m pretty sure my 3 year old knows more about football than Ryan Roberts.

Not saying Thompson is a stud, but with Burnham leaving, there is a need for a quality run stopping DE. He’s had 6.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks last year, and has played a lot of football in 3 seasons. He would be a solid signing. And oh yeah, he visits Texas A&M first, so he’s clearly well thought of by other top programs.

Straight up trade with Sparty, or is there a player to be named later (baseball reference if you don’t follow MLB).
Thats where Roberts has it wrong. We aren’t replacing bim with Burnham. It is a free agency signing role player
