USC coach Pete Carroll admitted Tuesday it was "improbable" anyone would beat out junior Mark Sanchez for the starting quarterback position.

It's the closest Carroll has come to naming a starting quarterback for next season as USC tries to determine who replaces John David Booty.

Carroll said Sanchez was ahead during the first week of spring practices because of his experience. Sanchez spent the past three seasons learning USC's offense while sophomore transfer Mitch Mustain and freshman Aaron Corp are each in their first season.

I think a good upgrade for Mitchie. I would always take a dirty Sanchez rather than backing up for Dick.
