If ND doesn’t get in..so be it but I wish someone would make ND’s case in a sincere way. Cristobal kept his starters in until the end of the game vs VT last week & PItt this week for the sole purpose of padding the score. ND obviously realized this and MF tried to go all gas, no brakes tonight. Only difference is the broadcast crew openly criticized him for it despite putting in the backups in the fourth quarter. I know OSU loves to claim “Ohio vs the world” but it’s clear that it’s ND vs the world.

Pretty simple at this point after today. Texas Tech beats BYU and we're in.

If not, tighten your seatbelt.
It’s tough to beat the same opponent twice but seems like TT is far superior to BYU. That said, after this weekend; I wouldn’t count on anything breaking ND”s way. Maybe this is the year ND gets forced to re-think independence much to the joy of the rest of CFB

I dont think the issue is miami. Why would they suddenly jump 3 spots. Nothing has changed for them or us since the last rankings(at least not enough for them to jump BY, Bama, and ND. The concern is if BYU and Bama win next week. Then how can we be in it? The only way we would have been safe is if we were to jump Oklahoma, but I'm not sure how that is possible. And the way refs are calling games and the way things have shaped out, I fully expect BYU and Bama to win....🤮

TT's defense is stout. It looks like after their loss to Arizona State that they've patched things up.

Gonna have to take a collosal failure to lose to BYU after beating them soundly the first time.

In regards to independence, I admittedly wanted Notre Dame before the CFP 12-team expansion to join the Big Ten. However, after last season, and all the money we gathered in the CFP from being independent, I'm perfectly fine staying put.

Miami is still -1600 on FanDuel to not get into the CFP (94%). The betting public still thinks they’re screwed and we are going to be above them.

The big concern is BYU and Bama both wining, pushing us out. Still are -400 to get in (80% probability) today.

Would be absolutely shocked if BYU can beat this Texas Tech team. While I think everyone else in the big 12 is a fraud, I think Texas Tech is pretty damn good.

Yeah, except the reps have an incentive to favor BYU bc that get the conference 2 teams and $$$$$. The refs absolutely can subtly influence momentum

Conference teams have an incentive to band together. You dont think stanford was trying to help miami's cause by tacking on late garbage tds? I wouldnt be surprised if the big 12 to conspires as well.

Parlay for Bama and BYU winning next week is +800! Not a bad consolation if we end up missing out

The problem I see, and it’s late so maybe it’s wrong, is BYU losing then what happens if Bama wins or loses the SEC. Does a loss take them out completely? A Bama win places ND and Miami right next to each for #10. Committee said they look at head to head when teams are in the same group which Miami and ND now would be in that case.

I think if ND passes Oklahoma this week then no issue. Otherwise seems like ND is a huge UGA fan to keep Bama between ND and Miami or behind both.

I think FanDuel is making their best guess as to how the committee will rank these teams, but it would not at all shock me to see us pass Oklahoma into the 8 spot, locking us into playoffs.

The committee has shown they care about eye test, spreads, metrics, etc… we pass them on all of these and OU laid a pretty big dud today. I mean they were in serious jeopardy of losing until a blown coverage won them the game. Mateer threw 3 picks lol.

Either way, my picks next week are for Texas Tech and Georgia to win, especially with how bad Bama looked. BYU is just overrated as all get out.

The committee has explicitly said if two teams are sorted a certain way going into conference championship weekend, and both teams are not involved in the championship weekend, they cannot change positions relative to each other. They can each still go up or down in rank, but team A has to remain above team B.

So if we are ahead of Miami on Tuesday, we are locked ahead of them and SECCCG cannot change that.

I was unaware of this. That would be huge.

I could justify Miami passing BYU but not Bama and ND.

I think Stanford subbing in their beloved practice squad QB on that final drive is a big problem for your theory here.

Mf did not go all gas. he knows It's not about style points and let the d go third and fourth string. It's always the Irish verse the world and we once were the slaves of a many countries we still dont celebrate an independence day. 1922 Is the closest we have to a liberation day and we have a festival in certain parts but we are fighting now for our birth right The irish have very few things to look onward for and watching nd is one of our great privileges

Thats prob a good point, but it isnt just players, it is plays too. We can have j love and Carr but hand the ball off up the middle.
But you r right, I was trying to make a point. Maybe Stanford was just getting scrubs some reps and they happened to score. I really don't care. The one that matters is the Big 12 championship.
Do you just trust the big 12, Texas Tech and BYU will have no incentive to favor BYU? I hope you are right. Because if BYU wins, we are probably fucked.
I'm just preparing for a letdown. I'd be ecstatic if it is a fair game and Ttech crushes BYU and we make it in.
