Simple idea- who are your top 5 Pro QBs of all time? With the announcement of Brett Favre's retirement, does he make your top 5 of all time? For this poll, lets keep it to those retired, as active QBs could be another poll.

I would put the following in my top 5
Joe Montana
John Elway
John Unitas
Dan Marino
Brett Favre

1 montana - no argument
2 Elway - better than the bottom three
3 Unitas - too young to fully grasp his talent
4 Favre - the only drawback to Favre is his inconsistency. hell of a player, and person
5 Marino - never won a championship

1- Elway (Can not stand him, but he was the best pure QB I ever saw)
2- Montana
3- Peyton Manning
4- John Unitas
5- Otto Graham ;)

Honorable--

How about Warren Moon for a mention, most wouldn't consider him but he was the man without a doubt in my mind

Brady lost a Super Bowl, Montana never threw a pic in the Super Bowl. He will forever be behind Joe b/c of this.

I have a soft spot for Vince Ferragamo as a So Caler myself

Brady is number 1 already..and I hate the Patriots

Brady is the man, but people need some perspective with the guy... it's always the here and now that's the "greatest ever" lately... ;)

Here's my 2 cents:

1. Joe Montana - In my opinion, there is no contest
2. John Elway - 2nd best comeback QB
3. Roger Staubach - Consistent, steady and a great competitor
4. Dan Marino - Best QB not to win a championship
5. Terry Bradshaw - Worst QB to win 4 championships...will be replaced by Manning or Brady when they retire

Joe Montana ( Even though my Giants knocked him out twice in playofff games)
John Elways ( Even though My Giants kicked his ass in a Super Bowl)
Terry Bradshaw( Underrated, was a big game Q.B.)
Steve Young (Took the West Coast offense to another level. )
Dan Fouts ( The forgotten gunslinger)

No Stoney. Ken Anderson is not a top 5 QB. ;)

In my lifetime:

1. Montana
2. Dan Marino
3. John Elway
4. Favre
5. Steve Young

I think I will go this exact 5. The quote about Manning is probably true as well. Manning thinks like Joe and has the build of Marino.

Bluegold, - if you had to take a 5th QB from the retired list instead of Payton, who would it be for you?

ACamp I forgot about Vince Ferragamo but I did always like to watch him play also. Actually the only two QB's fpr the rams I didn't like (but I know the owner did  ) was Joe Namath or Dan Pastorini........I would guess it was because they never actually played.

NDOM I think I would put Harrington a little higher and for your number 5 (sorry stoney) what about Akilia Smith. I know I miss spelled his first name. :)

Got it, B&G

No love from anyone with Dan Fouts, either. I really liked him flinging it in the Air Coryell offense. Not that he would make my top 5.

guess it would go:
Montana
Favre
Elway
Bradshaw
......I'd like to put Marino up there but I can't do it due to lack of a ring......
Griese...can't debate an undefeated year (which I hate them being the only ones which is the only reason why I rooted for the Pats this year...and brady will only be number one if he gets about two more rings before he is gone, which is possible unfortunatly. I truely dislike the pats/brady but ya gotta give credit where it's due. I just hope they find enuff evidence of cheating to be able to just totally write them out the record books.

I guess you will need to put Earl Moral with Bob Greise since Bob was hurt part of the year and Earl filled in for him I believe.

You are right about Earl Morrall- he also backed up Johnny U in Baltimore for alot of years, in fact played in Super Bowl III when they lost to the Jets. Believe Unitas was hurt and Morrall played most of the game.
