DORIAN BELL, Gateway HS (Monroeville) LB
The early favorite as the No. 1 prospect for next year, the 6’1” 210 pounder has already been called by Gateway head coach Terry Smith “the best athlete I’ve ever coached.” Considering that Gateway has recently put more major prospects into college than any school in PA—including NFL-bound cornerback Justin King—that’s saying a lot. Bell is not big yet, but he is tough, aggressive, active, fast and athletic. He already has approximately 30 offers, including Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, West Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, California and Virginia Tech. When the first set of national rankings come out, Bell could be the No. 1 ranked linebacker prospect in the country for 2009, as well as one of the top ten athletes overall. His college choices are wide open now, although has expressed interest to leave the area. He does admit that may change

That's a mighty undersized ILB.

Those are old combine numbers, I've heard he's as big as 220 now, but haven't seen anything concrete. Remember that Phillip Wheeler was undersized and Tenuta turned him into quite the player.

It probably won't matter anyway though. From what I've seen Dorian hasn't seemed to show much interest in ND thus far.

Dorian picked up an official offer from Coach Weis yesterday but judging by his response to the offer it sounds like they have some work to do to get him to come to ND.

It's not as if he didn't sound open to ND but he didn't sound all that excited either.

hopefully tenuta can add some spice to the linebacking group and pique the interest of some of the LB recruits out there.

He looks and sounds like he is worth doing some work to earn his attention. Due-diligence by us at the start could work. Worth the effort.

Looks like he and his teammate and fellow ND scholarship offer recipient Corey Brown are going to be visiting ND this weekend.

There has been some talk that he was no longer considering ND but I was hearing otherwise but hadn't heard it elsewhere until just recently on some of the other ND sites thats reporting that he's coming to South Bend this weekend.

I'm glad we didn't land him. I really think he would have been one that we would have to worry about decommitting until NSD
