Russell has said he'd be willing to be a WR, or DB if he was unable to win the job at QB, but that's what he really wants to play. ND seems to be looking at him as a combo athlete so they probably don't have much of a chance here. He has already been offered by Texas, but he didn't commit largely because they already have one QB commit from the most highly rated prospect in the state. Russell went on to say that if T.Pryor didn't go to Michigan then they would be right at the top of his list.

Russell currently has a top five of LSU, Texas, Florida, Michigan, and USC.

Some of his favorite coaches thus far are Ken Norton Jr., Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and Mack Brown and Larry Porter from Texas.

After seeing his highlight film, I just do not see this kid as a QB at ND; however, he definitely is talented enough to play WR or DB.

I wouldn't want him to play QB at ND, remember the last dual threat quarterback that played. three fumbles and two passes.

Well, I would not hang that on Jones...he was set up for failure in that game.

However, it is a valid question wondering what the current ND staff could do with him.

i never said it was his fault but i dont want to see thatagain i dont think CW can plan for a quarterback like this, it's just not his cup of tee

Keep in mind with the updated structure in our staff, especially with Haywood who's been at a Vince Young Texas, a dual threat quarterback, though it seems unlikely, might have a little more room to make it work.

EDIT: Also keep in mind the last quarterback that won us a championship. ;)

I wouldn't mind having a dual threat QB, I thought DJ could have done some good things if he were given the oppurtunity to. I just think CW pulled the plug entirely too early on that, but, when your O-line doesn't block anybody within a 5 mile radius, it's hard to run any kind of offense, whether it be the spread option, or the traditional pro-style offense. I don't think we'll be able to compete for this kid, but, who knows, we may get lucky and land him.

Looks like he's leaving LSU. Not sure whether it's for a transfer or maybe leaving early for the draft to see if someone takes a chance on him.
