Hey all.. Going to be in the area this Weds and will be taking my client out to lunch. Any good suggestions that aren't chains at all? We did Evil Czech last time, which was solid. Looking for more local top of the line type places. Any help would be appreciated!

Lunch at any of the better restaurants will be difficult since most don’t open until dinner. Are you going to be in South Bend or Mishawaka?

Tippecanoe, but check to see if the are open. I know they offer lunch on Fridays.

Rohr's in the Morris Inn might by a good spot if the client hasn't been to Notre Dame

If you're okay with venturing over to Mishawaka, amidst all the chains and suburbia is Corndance.

Is that Between The Buns still open by campus? Not the best food but they had a killer big blue drink that would have you seeing doubles.

I made many future decisions thanks to the Papa Smurf.
They changed owners and go by Taphouse.

Wow...that's one I've forgotten about. It's now the Tap House on the Edge. I think they took over about 10 or so years ago.

By the way, how is the Tap house? I don't believe I've been there.

Can confirm the killer blue drink “Smurf” is still in action. They offer it in to-go bottles now (perfect for long drives)

I would say that Cascade is probably the fanciest thing going at the moment. It's by the downtown SB area. Jesus Latin Grill or Craft One Half might be better if you're closer to Mishawaka. Corndance if you're in the Grape Road area.

IMO the food at Taphouse is an upgrade from the prior iteration.

Cascade is great. We’ve been there multiple times now and have no complaints.
