Birmingham High of Lake Balboa running back Milton Knox, the Daily News player of the year, is going to UCLA, according to his father.
Milton Knox Sr. said his son “was leaning’’ toward Notre Dame, but after talking about it as a family stuck with UCLA. Knox originally committed to UCLA in June, but was contemplating a switch to Notre Dame after making an official visit over the weekend.
“He is,’’ Knox Sr. said when asked if Milton was attending UCLA. “It was a pretty tough decision for him. I think the thing that played a big role is family, and being close to home.
“The family is here, and his grandmother, who he is close with, is up in age, and it would have been tough to go to his games (at Notre Dame). I’ve been watching him play since Pop Warner. I coached him in Pop Warner.’’
Knox is the Los Angeles City Section record holder in career rushing yards (6,695) and touchdowns (103). He ran for 2,210 yards and 39 touchdowns while leading Birmingham to a second straight City Section championship this season.
any input GG?
yeah, it was a great day. and Knox is a great guy from what i hear. So whatever happens, im sure we all wish the best for him. It would be nice to watch him in SB though!
yeah, that sounded kinda selfish. i hope that is what Milton Jr. really wants
Doubtfull since he was quoted for saying that going to ND would be his dream.
If indeed Milton goes to UCLA, I wish him the best of luck. Certainly nothing wrong with playing close to the family if that is what's important to him. Charlie needs to try and ensure that 2 tailbacks are in tow today next year. Certainly doesn't diminish the day for me one bit. Go Irish!
