Golden is a good one, I hope JC can get him the ball some more on deep balls. Put it up for grabs, a #3 corner isn't going to be able to cover Golden Taters.

When you put it that way it sounds like you're making a crude joke. I was thinking it was his FANS who'd go by that name. Tate himself is just "The Golden Boy".

I think Golden should play more at WR..Did you see the catch he made against Penn State ( I know there was a penalty on the p-lay) but he did go up and get it.. Play TATE!!!

Yeah, he made a really nice catch. The problem is that, contrary to some people's expectations, we've got LOADS of depth at WR (Grimes, West, Parris, Kamara, Tate, and I guess Hord too (if he exists) all look quite good). With the problems the Skunkbears have had when teams spread the field, though, I suspect we'll see more of them on the field at once this Saturday.

I just find it REALLY hard that Golden is not in the top 3 receivers...

I do think he will be; I don't think he is yet. In the first place, he's very young, and the strength needed to be a regular player in college football usually comes only with age. Secondly, wasn't he primarily a RB in high school? I take it that there are skills he still needs to work on developing.

Don't get me wrong: I think the Golden Boy is going to be REAL good, and that he could be one of our primary targets by midseason. I just also happen to think that we have four other guys who also have loads of talent, some of them with considerably more experience at being a college WR than Golden.

well, he got about 10 -12 touches at RB a game, and he played more receiver his Senior year because we could have Wesley at RB...

I think our receivers have struggled the first two games trying to get open. the qb's get the slack for holding on to the ball to long.

On Friday Wesley had 91 yards on 9 carries and 1 TD

Also, on his TD run he looked like Golden. He got the ball bounced it outside all the way to the left sideline where he broke 3 tackles then ran all the way to the right sideline before cutting it up field and walking into the endzone!!

Is he more of a agile make you miss sort of back, or does he tend to be more physical and try to run defenders over?

He will run over you if he has too,if he doesn't think he can make several people miss. He will "juke" you if he is one on one and thinks he can get a lot more yards.

i agree with the strength part, when i was at notre dame for an engineering camp for the summer, i talked to Golden (we were both swimming @ the joyce),
and he told me he was the weakest player on the team (at that time).. so that may be a reason he didnt see as much playing time as we would of liked..

I just watched his video, and to be honest, if I knew it wasn't Cierre Wood, I could be deceived by the elusiveness and the number. Go check his page out on rivals.

We need to offer him as an athlete. I mean let's get real here we can use more athletes on both sides of the ball.
