I'm sure you've seen it, but if you haven't, check it out: http://home.centurytel.net/wr1157/fs.wmv

I think he apologized after the fact because he knew he was in deep shat. The way that he argued like he did nothing wrong on the field after being flagged shows what kind of lowlife Haynesworth truly is. He should be suspended for the rest of the year and should have criminal assault charges filed against him because he had malacious intent in his actions. Just an absolute scumbag.

Can't add anything to this.

Agreed on all counts. Yet another example of where we are in sports culture. Just plain rotten.

I saw that play. In the real world, he would be behind bars right now. He used those cleats as a weapon to inflict harm. He should be suspended without pay for at least....at least four games.

thinking he should be gone for the year, not just 4 games. Like it was stated, if he did that out in the street he would be in jail. Should be no different in this situation.

Suspended for the year for sure. As far as criminal charges against him you're walking that fine line between the violence of the sport against what is actually criminal. We saw this in the NHL where that thug (cant remember his name) slashed a player from behind in the back of the head and he was charged with assault. That is the only time i can recall in any sport that the law has interviened with criminal assault charges. Usually the league's (NHL, NFL, MLB etc. etc...) like to handle matters in house. If it were up to me, i'd suspend him for the rest of the year without pay, and have him enter some sort of anger managment program. Fischer is a stand up guy so i'm sure he will do the right thing.

That bothers me more then then steroid issues, or Pete Rose betting on games, or several other examples.
Right on Jigga. Sad state.
NFL NBA both suck

I think he should at least be suspended for the year. They need to send a message to these guys that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.

Somebody needs to file charges, accordiding to foxsports, the cowboy player need 30 stiches to close up his head. If that is not assult than I don't know what is. Also the wonderful example that haynesworth is setting for the kids.

I'll tell you what, being a volunteer coach for the last couple of months...I dig the way we do business.

We want our guys to be excited and play hard, but they show humility and respect to our opponents at all times. We've put a few kids in their place already for taunting and acting stupid. They ran until they barfed the first practice following their infraction.

No more problems with those guys anymore. No problems with anyone else either.

With scholarship and paid pro athletes, start making examples of them. This crap needs to stop. Sports is really coming undone from the pro level on down. Too many overaged juveniles running around the streets causing problems. Now they're bringing their antics to the field and court.

Someone needs to strap on a set, get pro active and start laying the smack down fast.

A couple inches in the other direction and it's his eye. It's ridiculous and I imagine the NFL will do nothing more then give him a slap on the wrist. $25k fine... Oh no!

No way he was getting off w/ anything less than a suspension. Even the NFL isn't that lenient just to fine him.

Should've been more though. This was worse than what Marcus Vick did to Dumervil last year.

I can't believe it was only a 5 game suspension. He should be suspended for the rest of the year.

He should also be brought brought up on criminal charges. Let's see, kick somebody in the head with a pointed metal object in the real wordl gets you a couple of months behind bars at least.
