Huge News: Jon Tenuta Will Be Joining Our Staff

Bill Lewis will be retiring soon and Georgia Tech defensive coordinator, Jon Tenuta will be joining our staff. Tenuta will be the new defensive back's coach.

Wow, that is big. Tenuta has a great scheme so this looks like a great hire. I'm just sorry ND had to lose a great teacher and recruiter to get him. I really hope this won't effect any current commitments.

I believe all recruits will think this is positive...After having his name be thrown around with Michigan and LSU..I live in Atlanta and Tenuta is highly respected...A source close to GT said they were very surprised by Tenuta going to ND..He had many offers.

This excites me, i've always enjoyed watching GT's defense, i wonder how Corwin Brown will work with him and maybe we'll see some new defensive packages here and there.

I wonder if this will have any impact on some of those defensive guys out there that are still on the fence. I've gotta say, if Tenuta can come over and help ND's defense become as dangerous as some of his GT D's, I can't imagine any defensive player wouldn't want to be on board in the future.

Well there seems to be a little bit of good news on the story being broke so early. The staff learned that the story was about to come out and they made the recruits aware of it so they wouldn't be caught off guard and they have been talking to them about it for the past several days.

It also appears from what I'm hearing that C.Brown will be taking control of the DBs and retaining his DC position, and Tenuta will be coaching the LBs as the assitant DC.

I know Lewis is retiring but Polian coaches linebackers which is what Tenuta is speculated to coach .... sooooo where does Polian fit in. My thought is that CW creates a full time special teams coaching position to address that area in which CW said splitting the duties this past year didn't work.

I know Polian used to be considered the special teams coach .... but evidently those responsibilities were split up last year .... if they go back to one special teams coach .... is Polian the man for the job or do they bring in someone new.

If Polian stays ... where does he coach?

Wow. This is great news. I loved Tenuta's defense with GT. They were really aggressive and gave many offenses fits. This should attract even more LB's who wanna blitz a lot. I'm sure CB and Tenuta will coicide with each other nicely. Tenuta's blitzing schemes are impressive.

It would seem a little late in the recruiting process to have a GT player jump to follow Tenuta. I sure Tenuta has been out of the GT picture for some time now and I would really be surprised if any player was waiting this long on an unemployed coordinator.

Corwin Brown had just as much to do with Blanton as Lewis... Seriously, you don't need to worry about Blanton. Slaughter I have no idea, but Blanton is about as solid a recruit as we have in this class.

Not likely, besides Tenuta has never been a coach that known for being a very active recruiter or having such a desire to do so. That's one of the main reasons people seem to point to when people try to bring his name up for a head coaching position.
