As a Minnesotan, the northwest is famously non-Catholic once you get past St Cloud/Stearns County. But your reasoning sure stands on the unfamiliar Fargo

I'm not sure about NW Minnesota, but back home in Duluth it's majority Lutheran. I assume it's the same for NW Minnesota.
