Whatever happened to kids walking 3 miles to the schoolhouse in a blizzard because education was actually that important. Now, there are 2 hour delays for nothing, and school closings for some snow.

I don't get it, nor will I ever.

You know my dad stoney ? Actually though it was 10 miles to school up hill in 2 ft of snow carrying my Aunt on his back up hill the whole way. And as hard as it might be to believe it was also 10 miles up hill to get back home. At least that's what he told us.

at my Catholic grade school the monkey bars were set in concrete. now if there is not the right level of woodchips under them, the playground is shut down. We were sent out everyday to recess regardless of the windchill or snow while wearing skirts. Now, if it is below 32 we stay inside. We walked to school everyday. Now, Car pool lines are blocks long because the mommies don't want their kids walking or riding the bus.
