Missing the Old Signing Day

I miss the old signing day - Arik Armstead, Deontay Greenberry, Eddie Vanderdoes, Devontae Neal (now in jail?). The flurry of activity and back and forth drama in the days leading up. This year it all feels a bit more boring (perhaps in a good way). I guess last year we had Dante Moore, Peyton Bowen. The transfer portal has made up for some of it but early signing day just doesn't feel the same. What other memorable recruitments am I missing?

Mid 2000s was great. Rivals had a guy actually report the color of Chris Donalds boxers during the Army All American game. They were orange which confirmed he was going to Tennessee.

That's my feeling. It's also possible that because I have kids now, I just have way less time to get engrossed in recruiting .

Signing day was fun madness but if anyone shouldn't miss the old signing day, it's ND fans. Burned a zillion times and very, very few positive outcomes.

I don't think Ronald Darby was a signing day decommit (I think maybe a few days before) but that one hurt.

Feels like ND has never gotten good news on signing day besides Manti. The next biggest I can remember that ever made it to ND was Powlus's kid lol.

I don't miss the Weis years at all. He wouldn't sign enough players and after his first 3 full recruiting classes (2006, 2007, 2008) we were about 7-10 players under the 85 limit each year, which is completely unacceptable. He could've had multiple players in the 2006 class that either played in the NFL or made NFL practice squads but he either botched the recruitments or told them there wasn't enough room. The way things ended with Greg Little and Justin Trattou around NSD weren't great. I could go on and on.
