Goshen, where did you get that tidbit? The last thing I heard was that he was really high on K-State after this last weekend's visit because the OC put his mind at ease about playing quarterback and how he would fit in the scheme. Are we 100% that he's knocked them off the list?

From Silver or O'Leary?
Interesting. I would have thought for sure it was down to KSU/Oregon.
Thanks for bringing it here.

Chris will make a public verbal this comming Monday. Right now reports have Kansas St. barely edging out Illinois.

Harper is set to announce in about 20 min. From all indications it looks like he'll end up at KSU.

Good...He wants to play QB too much and doesn't have a natural position here. I thought he'd go to Illinois.......KSU is a suprise. Chris Harper I HARDLY KNEW YE!

He's decommited from KSU. He cited the offensive coordinator change as the reason.

What's the record for the shortest announced commitment ever? I think that saying where you are going before NSD needs to be called something else. "Commitment" is clearly the wrong word in the process.

he commited less than a week ago dont you think he would know there was a possibility this guy was leaving. Why not wait a week and then commit?

I cant believe this. I feel bad because these kids end up looking like the bad guys, but the problem is all the grown men at these schools dicking them around, and then media spectacles at which they are expected to announce a decision.

how can you have early signing periods though when these coaches will leave behind the kids they recruited as long as there is enough $ involved. I wouldn't want to sign early with a school only to find out the new coach is bringing in a spread offense and I'll make the perfect qb for the scout team.

Did anyone else see his interview on Rivals after his announcement? He didn't sound very convincing with his answers when the reported asked him why he chose K State. He didn't look the guy in the eye, he seemed unsure of himself, almost like he was forced to annouce that day but wasn't 100% into his decision.

I don't think you have to feel sorry for anybody in recruiting, KP. With the rules as they are now, a recruit can say anything publicly about any school at any time without any accountability. Unfortunately, many kids use this to their advantage, 'hoarding" a scholly from their 2nd choice as leverage against their 1st choice.
Like you, I believe the "grown men" in this process are the main part of the problem, but I refuse to feel sorry for someone who did not do their homework or is playing some kind of game.

Sorry, I needed to vent...

And how would this any different than what is for college basketball, which has an early signing period?!?

you have a good point, but basketball is a far less dynamic game and the head coach is far more involved with each player. 15 or so players compared to 85 means the relationships with the assistant coaches are very important in football.

That's why I think their needs to be an out clause in the LOI for early signies. In my opinion the recruits should be allowed to void their LOI if either their position coach, cordinator, or HC leaves before the recruit actually enrolls in school.

Chris Harper has eliminated ND, but that seems like it's because ND stopped recruiting him after his first verbal and then never contacted him again after he decommited.

I think it probably had more to do with feeling good about G.Robinson and D.Walker.
