As Sampson pointed out in yesterday's II podcast, the details of Ludwig's contract and the details of his buyout were known before Ludwig was interviewed. If somehow Swarbrick or the lawyers got those details wrong that would have totally been on them for screwing up the vetting process. If they didn't do that - if they knew what his actual buyout was and assumed they could negotiate it down when Utah had absolutely no incentive to do so, that's still a major fuck up by them to make that assumption without knowing for sure.

Either way, they fucked this up.
