I don't like the media man-love being slobbered on LSU now as "deserving"....
Go back to the year Nebraska LOST before their conference title game 62-28 to Colorado and STILL played in the title game. The precedent was set long ago - the polls and the standings in the BCS before the meaningless title games lock teams into slots...when the teams above you lose, you move up...ergo - tOSU and UGa get to play in what is the worst "title" game in recent memory...
What pisses me off more is that we will get some of these other match-ups in BCS games:
LSU - Hawaii
USC - Illinois
OU - KU
VT - who cares...
The entire system is a joke, but those match-ups are puke inducing gruel.
We should at least get some decent games - what about USC - LSU in the Sugar or Rose? What about KU-Hawaii in the Fiesta (cinderellas play each other)? How about VT - Georgia in the Orange or Sugar?
I would rather watch those teams play each other than beat the snot out of Cheaty McSweatervest and the Bucknuts (again)...
Let's cut through some of the Tressel bullshit here for a minute too...he "won" that game against Miami after a gift of a PI call, in OT and survived about 4 other games that year by the skin of his teeth. Aside from beating ND in the 2005 Fiesta (a 27-20 game with 2:00 left - although Musberger's drool was apparent from kick-off to uncomfortable perverted discussion of Brady Quinn's sister to final gun) and dominating Voyd Carr and the Skunkbears, Tressel is not the greatest thing since sliced bread...He wins against a fairly weak conference from top to bottom, wins the Ohio state championship and clowns on Carr every year. Woooo-hoooo.... See, ND got it all wrong in hiring Weis...we should have hired a D2 coach who wins champiosnhips and then just schedule him against familiar foes and finish every year with 1 or 0 losses and occasionally luck our way into upsetting a clearly better opponent in the BCS title game...
Florida exposed the Bucknuts last year; and this year, the fact that they seem to slide into the title game with their most impressive win being a sloppy - nigh, unwatchable - game against a FOUR-Loss Michigan team (while equally unimpressive Kansas sits at 11-1 and watches everyone but The Citadel march past them in the BCS) is sickening...
Scrap the whole damn thing already and go back to the traditional bowl games. Better still, strip the conference tie-ins and make the bowl games compete against each other to attract match-ups....wanna bet a move like that from the NCAA would result in a playoff in about 20 seconds?
