Lou's pep talk on ESPN tonight is for the Irish, just fyi. I don't know if they play the pep talk more than once.

I loved how he got all dressed up in his old Notre Dame gear. But here's tthe best part... They have the number two team in the country losing to yet another unranked team and they spent a large part of the halftime talking a about a 1-9 ND team that is playing another 1-9 team. Yet they often try to claim ND is no longer relevant.![]()
I can't see Lou wanting to come back. Too much stress, and probably not as high a salary as he's getting from ESPN.
I love that guy (Holtz) He has a passion for Notre Dame. I've seen a few of his pep talks this year but none with the heart like that one. He's something else!

I have an ESPN clip of him at the 07 Spring Game where he was an honorary coach. He takes ND football seriously. Hhe can still work a sideline. Also took Bruton (i think) aside after he dove into the endzone on an interception return.

post the clip.
I think it is because Notre Dame is the weekend football hope of the steelworker, the secretary, the Catholic, the rich, the poor, the trenchdigger, the Mexican, the U.S., the Canadian, the Irish, the Polish, the crook, the lawyer, the butcher, the sargeant, the captain... Worldwide appeal. I think they represent the humble good guys. At least that is what ND football is to me.
Other teams can say the same thing, but they are not Notre Dame.
