It is time for Charlie Weiss to go. If he is such an offensive genious why can't he figure out how to kick a field goal to to win the game with 45 seconds left on the clock. He has had three years now to turn the team around but we still can't win the big game in late October, November, and January. The players put the team in position to win this one and the coach blew it. There is no exuse for the poor leaderhship he has shown.

We had 2 weeks to prepare for a "running team" and they scored every time they had the ball. I afraid now that Charlie Weis may not be the coach to lead ND back to the glory days of ND football. I think he needs to hire an offensive coordinator that calls the plays or he needs to go back to the pros or highschool football. We have some amazing players but the play calling sometimes borders on stupidity. Why, someone please tell me, why we did not attempt the fieldgoal as time was running out in the first half? And the very last play, why didn't we use Aldridge if the decision was to run the ball but with Kamara and Carlson making difficult catches all day, I would have passed to one of them. I have not seen an originally designed play by Weis since he took over at ND. I have to admit that I was one of his biggest fans but he has managed too many disappointments for me. I say unless we win at least 8 games next year, then the administration should start looking for both an athletic director and new coach next year.

I would have CW on a very...and I mean a very short leash next year. maybe if they bring in a new coach he will bring along someone who can coach the defense too!

I still think he should get another year. Yes, today's loss is on him in my mind, but his recruting, hard work, willingness to make changes and love for the program has earned him another year. I don't think he's an offensive genius, and I haven't for a long time, but that doesn't make him a bad coach, remember that he's still learning to be a HC, and I hope he learned a lesson today.

I agree with you, but CW is a loose cannon. I can't remember a team that has won the National championship with such ODD play calling.

No. No and more no. Say what you will about the call to go for it, which I also disagreed with, but in Charlie's mind he thought their best chance to win was to go for it and from what I have seen from the kicking in practice this week I can understand that. A lot of coaches would have kicked the field goal because they know they wouldn't get any crap for it. It is coaches' best quality, he does what he think is best for the team no matter what. Everyone knows he isn't going anywhere so just cool the Bullsh*t. He is our coach and the only shot we have at winning in the next five years.

I love this team and the only thing they had to do to win this game was RUN THE BALL. The game looked easy for them when they ran. I don't know why CW didn't do what navy was doing it worked for them. Today was the day the players should have been allowed to grind the smaller team down from the start. I feel bad for the players this was a game they should have won easy and would have if they ran. I don't care if they ran on every play all game long when someone can't stop you keep doing what you are doing.

I would have liked to see JC out there. Sharpley was not impressive again. The stats don't speak for how he managed the game.

Not kicking a field goal was not a bad call. Our kickers blow and stink. You would be whining if as usual the guy missed and posting why did Charlie depend upon bad kickers. that's second guessing y'all know? What is is.

Come on! If you miss the FG at least you gave it a try. It means you went for the win. Not to do so is just plain stupid. How does putting off the potential victory win games. You win by striking when you can.

I'm beginning to wonder whether CW has become too predictable or whether the opposing defensive coordinators have figured him out. We don't seem to be able to get receivers wide open, nor do we seem to confuse opposing defenses much.

Obviously we scored this game, but they held us on a few occasions, such as the drive following the turnover, the 2nd OT where they held us to a field goal, and the 3d OT drive to end the game. And this wasn't a defense that should have been able to do that.

Part of the problem is youth. Have you seen Golden Tate, when they iso the receivers on TV replays? That kid has some big play ability, but at this point in his career, he can't run a route to save his life. The biggest factor, in my opinion, in regards to not keeping defenses off balance, is lack of production on first and second down. When you are averaging less than 2 yards a carry, and it is 3rd and 8, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you are going to throw the ball.

While I'm not on the Can Charlie bandwagon, I do think the administration needs to give him an ultimatum: Either hire an offensive coordinator, or win 10 games next year. If you don't do one or the other, then there will be no 2009 season at ND for you.
