I'll Be Embarassed If...

Alright, instead of keys to victory, I thought I would take another approach to this game. What is the one thing that would embarass you during the Navy game. 'Losing' is not a valid answer in this exercise.

For me, it's a deep passing play for a score or deep field position. I just gots this queasy feeling that we will be so intent on defending the wishbone, that Hyphen-hyphen-hyphen-Enhada is going to have one of those 'Who forgot to cover that guy' moments and hit Campbell or some other receiver wide open for 6. Like no-one-around-him-for-25-yards- open. And it will be at a critical time in the game.

I think that's bound to happen at some point during the game, I just hope it's not late when the game is close, or happens twice. Possessions are limited, and we must force long 3rd downs and 3 and outs.

Aside from losing, I'd be embarrassed by anything less than a dominant game on offense. If we don't put up 400+ total yards, then I really am worried about the future of this team.

I may be disappointed, but I won't be embarrassed. Coach forgot to write my name on the dress list this week so there's nothing I can do in this game that would be embarrassing

I think you have to stop the run, and take your chances on the deep pass. Our cb are faster than them, so they should be ok. I look for ND to be aggressive on offense and defense.
Point is, what exactly do we have to lose, other than face??

recruiting wont be affected. When Mich lost to Appy state was it affected? not at all. Get used to it people. we knew we were in for a bad year if we really thought about it. This team is going to hear all this shit and is going to be playing a chip on their shoulders.

I've been trying to be positive, but losing this game shows Weis is not turning anything around. I don't care what kind of talent he brings in, based on results he's a worse coach than the D-1AA Delaware coach.

His play calling was absolutely terrible. Decisions to go for it and the kind of play he got out of the whole team despite having two weeks to get them prepared shows he cannot get results where he is responsible for building this team up. Perhaps we can convince him to demote himself to offensive coordinator and bring in someone else to have the responsibility of building up the program.

I couldn't care less about the streak. This is a game we should have dominated and won.

recruits coming to Notre Dame are coming for more than just football anyway, as important as that is. Its not like this school is interchangeable with LSU or Florida when it comes to that degree or the amount of exposure they get. ND recruits for the most part are a different breed than the USC variety.

I disagree. Streaks like Cal Ripken Jr.'s streak had to end. Eventually, he would have to retire unless they wanted to turn his streak into a joke and have him playing when he's 80 and in a wheelchair just so he could have 30,000 games played.

Streaks like this did not have to end. The only reason the streak would have to end would be if Navy increased its level of play or ND dropped theirs.

Now having said that, I could care less about the streak. Nothing seems to motivate this team to play better than they're capable of. I don't think this loss creates a chip nor will serve as motivation anymore than just winning a game for competitions sake.
