Guys....looking for someone who lives in Boston now or grew up there. Need some advice. Going up there in March to see the Bruins & Flyers play (St. Patrick's Day weekend).

Game is at 1PM on a Saturday. Hoping to get tickets for a Dropkick Murphys show that night (they generally play the Avalon on Lansdowne that weekend).

Need advice/help on where to stay, how to get around, etc....hockey should be easy since it's an afternoon game but the concert (if there will be one that night and if we get tickets) probably won't be over to a fair bit past midnight.

Would be driving up on Friday, home on Sunday.

Be sure to get your dropkick tickets far in advance, they sell out very quickly.

As far as somewhere to stay, maybe checkout Hotels.com?? I don't know what you are lookin for, but if you plan ahead you should be able to grab some place pretty cheap.

And getting around is pretty easy in Boston, its not that big of a city and the T runs everywhere and is very easy to use.

I want to go up for St. Pattys day next year as well...we'll see what happens though. You'll have a blast though, I love Boston.

get gallup...

I used to live up there for a while. But it's been a while since I been up there. I think you want to catch the Green Line to Banknorth. Hold that thought. Are you driving or taking the train (they stop running at midnight I believe)

Anyway get Gallup...

yeah....especially the St. Patricks Day shows. They go blazingly fast. Gonna have to keep a good eye on their website.

I had found something pretty affordable in the Brookline section. Just don't know which part of town to stay in. Will have my son (16) along, don't really wanna get mugged or anything. Especially wearing Flyers jerseys :)

Guess I need to look into how long it runs at night. I've never actually been to Boston for screwing around so I'll have no sense of direction. I'd just grab a cab but the fucker could take me on a joy ride and I'd not know it.

Dude, don't worry about getting mugged at all. Boston isn't a scary town at all, mostly college kids who are all talk anyway. I've walked through town with my old college roommate who was a yankee fan (yes i know...we all had those friends in college) wearing his NY hat and we didn't get any trouble at all. Its a good thing too, I might have taken the chance to jump in on the whole thing and give him the ass-kickin he deserves for all the anti-boston chatter he gave me throughout or college years.

The T stops at 12...but I know on specialy occasions it runs through like 2 or 3 and its free. I know on New Years it was running till 3 in the morning and Cabs were free because the city didn't want drunken drivers, I would imagine it being the same on Patty's Day, but I can't say for sure.

He's driving so I know he wants to get on 93 south but I forget what exit. You see it off the highway. If you want to catch the train you want to catch the Green. where is that band playing anyway. At banknorth or the wang theatre?

Hehe...Bruins fans can't be that worked up; they ain't been good in years. Not like our rivalry in the 70s.

They usually play the Avalon across from Fenway...

Are people from Boston: Teabaggers or Massholes?
