Thanks Scooper .

This PA guy wants to know if where Kyle is from is JT country? Thanks
No. Cincinnati is NOT JT country. OSU is the big name around here, but nowhere near the lock other parts of the state are.

Kyle's parents want him to go to ND because of the academics and Kyle really liked Charlie and the atmosphere. However, I know he really likes Ohio State a lot too and will be attending the OSU Michigan game saturday. I think he ends up at ND in the end simply because of the academics and how we use our tightends, but i wouldn't rule out OSU yet.

Yup, sounds like one of 'em. Kyle should sign his letter of intent at PHC.

It's the best food on the Westside. I know, I know, that's not saying much, but what else do they have to hang their hats on?

That's a very good thing to hear. Hopefully we can steal him away from OSU.

Ohio State should figure as a factor in a kid's recruiting every time if he's from Ohio and is an elite prospect.

They've lost one Ohio kid they've offered this year and he verballed to Louisville.

I think ND can sneak in and get their share, though.

Third hand rumor: Ohio St. is offering a chance to play both football and basketball and that may have given them a lead. There's a long way to go, though.

If Kyle can play for a B10 up and comming basketball program, then I don't see why a middle of the pack Big East team can't offer him a hoops scholly too.

Good point. Matta's team is stacked. He'd have a better shot seeing the floor at ND.

Yeah, and Matta is a great coach (he was at Xavier when I went there). That team is up-and-coming.

If he REALLY wants to play basketball, I'd say that the best place to go depends on how good he is at basketball. It sounds like he has more of a future in FB, but if he is on the bench at OSU, and starting at ND, that sure could be a positive thing for ND.

I'm not a big Elder fan though, seeing as I was obviously a St. X fan :)

I hope Matta gets that big nose stuck in the net if the buckeyes ever get to cut one down.

I'm a Xavier basketball fan myself.

My stomach dropped when his left Xaiver the year after he took them to the elite 8(should have been final 4, can't believe those refs)... but we've been on this topic before...

Duke fans paid those refs fair and square for their services. It's capitalism, what more do you want.

P.S. I am a Duke fan, but it wasn't me.

Rudolph gets another offer

Kyle now has offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Virginia, Boston College, NC-State, Miami, Wake Forest, Virginia, Tennessee, and Akron, and he lists his top 5 as (in no particular order): Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Ohio State and Virginia."

He just named ND as his leader according to Scout.

A certain Ohio State recruiting board apparently agrees with that assessment as they have acknowledged that ND has the edge over OSU in recruiting Rudolph. They also list Rudolph as the #2 player in Ohio, behind OSU verbal commit Mike Adams, but 3 spots ahead of fellow TE, Jake Stoneburner, who lists OSU as his current favorite.

Rudolph chooses Notre Dame

Elder High School junior Kyle Rudolph will commit to attending the University of Notre Dame on a football scholarship at a press conference Wednesday, Elder announced today.

Rudolph is a 6-foot-7, 230-pound tight end. Ohio High magazine, a prep sports publication distributed statewide, lists Rudolph as Cincinnati's top returning football prospect in the class of 2008.

Rudolph had 33 receptions for 399 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He was All-Greater Catholic League, all-Enquirer honorable mention and second team Southwest District. He also has been GCL Player of the Year in basketball each of the past two years.

Rudolph will commit in a press conference Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at Elder, the school said.

Rudolph recently told The Enquirer he also was considering Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia.

However, Rudolph said his "Junior Day" visit to Notre Dame earlier this month convinced him to pick the Irish.

"The people there are similar to the people I went to Catholic grade school with Catholic high school with," Rudolph said. "It just makes sense. I've always rooted for them when I watched them on TV."

Rudolph said he narrowed his choices to Notre Dame and Ohio State. He said he has been to OSU several times, including this past fall and winter.

"I loved everything at Ohio State," Rudolph said. "I just felt I fit in better at Notre Dame."

Let's hope the rumor is right as the other elite Ohio TE, Jake Stoneburner, committed to OSU over the weekend. FWIW, Rudolph is the higher rated of these 2 guys.

That's more than just a rumor, sounds like a done deal.
